Another new asteroid was added to the NASA list today. 2012 LJ2 was discovered on June 11 and will make it's close approach on... June 8th. Yes, 3 days after being spotted. Size is 130 to 280 meters. [link to ssd.jpl.nasa.gov]

It makes me realize how little we can see out there.. An asteroid could knock into us at any time and we may or may not see it.

...So I say..let's all enjoy the time we do have, because more than likely we won't see it coming. ;)

I am curious how long after the bay turned yellow did the quake occur.

FYI - I have unsuccessfully tracked a few animal deaths with quake dates.

I'm watching for a significant earthquake within a day of June 15, 2012 which makes the USGS Significant Earthquake list or has a 6.5+ magnitude based on two indicators:

1) Higher than average NEO close approach count for June 14-15-16:

:6-15t:

NEO count info: Thread: AMAZING new discovery... earthquakes influenced by asteroids!

2) Close approach by the 1.2 km asteroid 2002 AC on June 16 which has a related earthquake history...

Two most recent close approaches by 2002 AC

1968-Jun-22 -- 0.2366 AU
1968-Jun-19 –- Magnitude 6.0 -- Fitzroy Crossing, Western Australia

1985-May-14 -- 0.3023 AU
1985-May-14 – Magnitude 6.3 -- Madagascar
1985-May-15 – Magnitude 6.5 -- South Sandwich Islands

2012-Jun-16 -- 0.1598 AU
2012-Jun-16 –- Magnitude ??

1) Been to that site before but can't figure it out.
2) Do the mention asteroids, asteroid counts or asteroid history?
3) Do they target small windows or large periods?

6/15/2012 -- Saint Louis Missouri Shakes -- Charts show it -- USGS doesn't report it

"Firsthand report from South St. Louis Missouri -- at approx 1230pm CDT , June 15, 2012 (today) -- minor rumbling , rattle of windows, and a few glass items rattled on the table tops. St. Louis seismic charts show the event, However USGS has chosen not to report this earthquake on its map/service for some reason....... again.. the chart shows it... USGS skipped it??!! Is not reporting it?!"

There's been an unusual pattern of quakes in California today. from The Geysers to Coalinga. Then the activity picks up again in Southern California to Baja.

Not going to link them all but if you look at the current map, note all the blue dots from activity in the last 24 hours:

"I'm watching for a significant earthquake
within a day of June 15, 2012 which makes the
USGS Significant Earthquake list
or has a 6.5+ magnitude"

According USGS Real Time Earthquake Map,
there were 3 "Significant" quakes in last 7 days:

4.0 -- Yorba Linda, California -- 2012-06-14
5.7 -- Afghanistan -- 2012-06-11
5.8 -- Turkey -- 2012-06-10

The June 14th quake would be a hit for this watch.

We also got a 6+ today:

6.1 -- Philippines -- 2012-06-16

2012 LA11 is a new asteroid just discovered yesterday on June 15.

It was added to NASA site today June 16. [link to ssd.jpl.nasa.gov]

This 17-37 meter NEO made a very close approach
to the Moon and Earth on June 8-9, but no one knew?

2012-Jun-08 -- 17:06 -- Moon -- 0.0091 AU
2012-Jun-09 -- 02:06 -- Earth -- 0.0079 AU / 3.1 LD
