Message Subject America Will Never Recover From The Racism Toward Obama Over Four Years.

The day that Canada has a visible minority running for Prime Minister who actually has a chance of winning, I will be all ears about your opinions of our country

Until then, I suggest you work on fixing your own house first, then come criticizing ours.

The fact that Obama won first the nomination and then the election by a large majority is proof enough that the US has many people who are anything but racist.

Meanwhile, it seems that Canada has trouble even getting women in office, let alone people who aren't white anglo saxons of British or German descent.

Canada 50th in participation by women in politics, and compares unfavorably to those noted havens of womens rights like Saudi Arabia, Rwanda and Pakistan (/sarcasm)

"The outlook is depressingly bleak," admits Linda Trimble of University of Alberta, author of Still Counting: Women and Politics Across Canada. "Every time we check our position on the international rankings, we go down. We've been stuck for 13 years."

Canada now ranks 50th on the world scale of women's participation in politics, trailing Pakistan, Bolivia and the United Arab Emirates.

"It isn't that we're electing fewer, but other countries are electing more," says Trimble. "Across Canada, women have 23 per cent of the legislative positions."

We wont even talk about Canada's record on visible minorities, both on the corporate and government level ok?.

And I definitely won't mention Canada's record on trained immigrants who happen to be brown or asian - including all those engineers and much needed doctors, who are mostly busy driving cars and cleaning houses, due to entrenched racism and bigotry

Meanwhile in the US, minorities are extremely well represented as state Governors, Mayors and representatives at all levels up to the Federal.

Again, come back to us when you can prove the same about your own country

thanks!

A few stories for you, as you seem to need your memory refreshed. Canada doesn't even have minorities at a municipal level, let alone in higher government.

Immigration has changed the face of Canadian cities, but the complexion of their city council chambers remains much the same....

Visible minorities still vastly under-represented in corporate Toronto leadership

Corporate Toronto lags significantly behind the public sector in the diversity of its leadership, according to a major report released Tuesday.

Just 4.2 per cent of the members of corporate boards and executive teams in the Greater Toronto Area belong to visible minorities. That’s by far the smallest proportion of any of the six sectors surveyed, according to the report. Nearly 80 per cent of corporate boards and 75 per cent of corporate executive teams have no visible minority representation at all, the report found.

The corporate world compares unfavourably with the public sector, where more than twice as many leadership positions (8.8 per cent) are held by visible minorities. Government boards, agencies and commissions have the highest proportion of visible minority leadership at 22 per cent.
