How would you respond to an alien ET invasion?

I'd get the hell out of populated areas, assess the situation, see what transpires.
Hopefully find some likeminded individuals.

If you ask them to take you off planet with them the big question is what does "to serve man" really mean.

but I'm really for assessing the reality of the situation first. See what their motives are. DO NOT engage them....watch from a distance. See what they are here for....maybe to enlighten us... but more than likely they will need some natural resource. IF the resource is something we can offer them without causing our planet or species grief, then awesome!!! This is a poorly phrased initial posting, imo.

ETs are here. They've been here likely longer than we have.

If they ever wished to destroy us, we would be destroyed, period. We're not talking about our combustion, slug-throwing guns against their laser guns, like in the movies.

These are beings that are technologically advanced to a point that is difficult to fathom for us.

In the same way that an ant bed isn't going to be much of a challenge for a human with a garden hose (or a human with a flame thrower, for that matter), if the ETs wished us destroyed, we would likely not even ever know that there was a sudden necessity for us to resist an enemy. We'd just be gone in some nano-biological (I'm probably thinking too simplistically) assault from whence we never saw the source, and targets our specific DNA strains.

Clearly, this is not their objective. Likely, we are the violent, dangerous species. Likely, we are the ones who must mature before the ETs deign us worthy of sustained contact, commerce, community, etc.
Likely, we are to them as a chimpanzee in a zoo (perhaps I'm being a littly generous to our species in this analogy). Very few of us would leave our social groups every day to go converse with a fece-hurling chimpanzee in a zoo every day. No?
