Here is a link (to a PDF article) that is quite interesting. The site that it originates from is called WAI and is world reknowned for outlining a basic diet that clears up any acne problem in two weeks. It incidently also cleared up diabete I, diabetes II, and most other degenerative deseases. Check out also the forum for some interesting discussion threads about food and diet.

Guys you're not really answering the questions XD

Another thing OP is that it simply will be harder for the person who doesn't know how to cook, and for the person who only eats things like roast chicken dinners or fried breakfasts.

But - once again - quorn is king! Quorn sausages taste pretty much just like regular sausages, except they actually have some protein in and aren't made from bones and genitals!

So a good start perhaps would be just simple sausages and mash with veggie sausages.

Infact, would you like me to just type up some really simple meal ideas?

I agree..modern society has enabled many to just buy precooked foods so too often the art of cooking is lost or forgotten..

Its necessary..as you point out..to know how to cook..even simple meals..

doesnt have to be laborious or time consuming

to me it went naturally, so can't give practical advice. though maybe i can connect it with a time when i stumbled into "spiritual" part of life, after practicing one pointedly, some things started to fall away, including meat eating.

the question is why do you want to quit eating it?

O.k. here's Ardhanarishvara's list of easy veggie meals!

First, a brief list of veg that will work with pretty much any of the meals on this list:

All the colours of peppers
Onions
Potatoes
Sweet potatoes
courgette ('zucchini')
broccoli
cauliflower
peas
chickpeas
chillis -
and lots of spice makes all things nice!

I would normally put all of the above (give or take chillis and spices depending on the meal) into the following (apart from 1 obviously):

1. Veggie sausages and mash with onion gravy!

2. Soups, stews, scouse (use quorn as the 'meat')

3. Curries! SO MANY TYPES OF CURRY to make. [link to www.bbcgoodfood.com] this one is an awesome one to learn with!

4. quorn fillet roasts

5. Vermicelli - broccoli and whatever other veg you like, and perhaps some quorn chunks, with noodles (rice noodles preferably)!

6. Special fried rice - with peppers, broccoli, onions, peas, and quorn if need be!

7. Pasta! pasta, pasta and pasta bakes!

8. Risotto!

It starts to get a bit more complicated after that!

But the preparation for most of these is the same: cut up all the veg and chuck it in!!!

9. Veggie sausages with chips ("fries") and baked beans!!!

Here is my question to vegetarians. I AM what you may consider an athlete who exercises vigorously, regularly and I AM also an avid researcher and historian that uses a lot of brain power daily. Therefor, how can someone like me get enough protein for his body muscles and brain to be able to function at the top of my game?

I feel that without all my egg and meat based protein diet, that I would be a hungry, lethargic lil wimp who couldn't think his way out of a wet paper sack, let alone break through it. Just FYI, I eat lots of fruits and vegetables as well.
 Quoting: KnightsTemplar.TV

Quorn, vegetables, and, as an athlete i imagine you're already on the protein shakes, and if you're not you should be! x
 Quoting: Ardhanarishvara

Thanks! hf

I actually stopped drinking them from all the BS added in them. Isn't a protein shake processed with additives, junk and sugary?

I was thinking natural whole food as the way to getting healthy.

Re: About not eating meat...vegetarians and vegans welcome with input for meat eaters..thank you
The thing I don't understand is why people think it is a bad thing to kill animals and eat them.

Everything dies. There is nothing on this planet that is immortal. If an animal is not killed by hunting or at a slaughterhouse, it will have to be killed by something. Either a disease, or a violent accident, or another animal. If the animal is not killed, it will reproduce over and over and over again. Which does not sound bad until you figure that if no human killed or ate any animals at all in the span of three years, you would have a complete overrun of many animals.

I am not just talking deer here. I am talking cows, chickens, deer, elk, moose, alligators, crocodiles, coyotes, etc. You would have animals walking through your neighborhood, on your highways, and into buildings in massive herds. After only three years of not eating meat or animal products, or trapping or killing animals, you would have a population explosion that would cause absolute pandemonium.

Then what would we have to do to fix the overrun? We would have to go slaughter billions of animals at once. Only now, since nobody eats them, we would have to either drag them off to an incinerator or leave them where they lay.

If we did not eat the animals, then there would no longer be a purpose for them and they would go from valuable livestock and valuable resources to nuisance creatures that cause damage and nothing more. If you think the killing is bad now, you just wait until an animal is relegated to a nuisance creature. Then the slaughter will commence.

Anyway, the point is this: If you are a vegetarian or vegan, great. That's your choice and it's good that you have it as a choice. However, do not look down on people who hunt or eat meat, because they are doing you one hell of a favor. They are removing billions of animals from the food chain that have very few natural predators, so that you do not have to.

Re: About not eating meat...vegetarians and vegans welcome with input for meat eaters..thank you
Before modern day canning and transportation, those people who lived in temperate and sub-arctic areas had to rely to a certain degree upon meat to survive the winters. Meat could be smoked, dried, and salted for preservation. In areas where cultivation of large amounts of grains, fruits, legumes, and tubers was difficult, wild and domestic animals could convert inedible browse and grasses into digestible protein and fat and milk. People had no choice to survive.
For the past 30+ years, year-round vegetable/fruit produce has been available to people via the Market. This has made Vegetarianism and Veganism possible for large numbers of people outside the tropics.
Veganism is probably the healthiest diet to prevent and reverse heart disease.
Morally, meat eaters should never frown upon hunters. The old trophy buck has had a much better and longer existence than the 16 month old steers/heifers slaughtered by the millions for consumption by the masses.

Re: About not eating meat...vegetarians and vegans welcome with input for meat eaters..thank you
I am a vegetarian for health reasons alone, a few months ago I got into a long online argument with a whole heap of vegans, but before I started that argument when someone would ask me why am I a vegetarian I would say because of health and animal welfare reasons but now after the replies I got from that discusion I have come to the realisation that if I was doing it for the animals I would be a Vegan or raw foodist.
Thanks to those Vegans I now put my survival over that of my animals, having said that I will still continue to take care of my animals as humanely as possible but I no longer feel false gilt if I sell excess animals off for meat as I am now only vegetarian for health reasons. I owe those vegans a lot because I can now sell my excess roosters, my excess ducks, my excess male goats (as I only need one for breeding stock), excess honey from my new EXTRA beehives, and I am now looking into aquaculture which is something I would never have done before because It would of gone against my false idea that I was a vegetarian for animal welfare, I am also going to supply most of my fish food as worms from my new large worm farms and other bugs.
If I thought meat was healthy I would keep some of it myself to eat but I don’t think anyone could convince me to do that.

Meats not good enough for me to eat it but if people want to eat it than that’s there choice. I must admit i do make some omni people freak out a bit at first but after a short time everyone so far has come too really like my state of mind.

I have also found that omnies in general tend to be a lot more receptive to the idea of Vegetarianism than they used to be around me because of my new found laid back attitude, they see me as more of a realist now as opposed to some weirdo hippie making them feel bad and trying to convert them.

I now believe that people who think of themselves as omnivores have just as much right to eat meat as a carnivore such as a dog, I believe myself to be a Vegetarian therefore I have no right or need to eat meat!
The mind is a powerful thing, to quote Henry Ford "Whether you think you can, or you think you can't--you're right.", we can jump up and down and tell someone one logical fact after another until we are blue in the face and it wont matter one bit if they don’t believe that Vegetarianism or Veganism is right for them, if for some reason an omnivore who truly believes that they need meat to be healthy was forced to live on a vegetarian or vegan diet than there is a VERY HIGH chance that there physical and mental health would decrease (regardless of how much healthy food they eat) because of the restrictions that their mind has put in place!

Vegetarians and omnies are always getting bashed by vegans because they think that we don’t know enough about Animal rights and all that is needed is for vegans to fill in the gaps and that people (especially vegetarians) will jump on the band wagon as soon as they are told, that’s not the case for people in 3rd world countries and also for people like me who live in “first world countries” where the ground is so depleted from centuries of monoculture farming, mining and forestry that you could take a sledgehammer to the rock hard ground and break the hammers handle, and this is what we have to try and grow food in, which would be nearly impossible without the help of animals.

I would be quite surprised if there was a vegan or a vegetarian that has not tried to convert at leased one person. There is only one thing that can change or alter what the majority of the public believes (as it often does) and that is the Main Stream Media, sadly Adolph Hitler knew this all to well as he once said “If you tell a big enough lie and tell it frequently enough, it will be believed.” not that I am saying Vegetarianism is a lie but unless you can control the Main Stream Media you cannot change someone into believing that Vegetarianism or Veganism is right for them, it must be there choice that they make of there own free will and in there own time or else it wont last.

And as for health,
In my opinion there are many vegan and vegetarian foods that are a lot unhealthier to eat than either dairy or meat.
Lets talk about a man named John, John lives off a diet of mostly dairy, meat, white sugar, white flour, white rice, white bread, High Sugar breakfast Cereals, carbonated drinks, deep-fried foods, Cookies and Candy.
If our friend John was to change all of the above foods other than meat and dairy to healthier versions he would be a lot healthier than he would be if he only stopped eating meat and dairy and kept eating the rest.

By themselves Vegetarianism and Veganism do not guarantee a healthy diet, they can be a start but by themselves all they will ever be when it comes to health is to be a part of a healthy diet.
So if you are only worried about health meat and dairy should be one of the last things you will need to cut out of your diet.
And while we are on the topic of health, in my opinion there is not a single person in the world that can come up with a good argument that Honey is unhealthy.

look up Sproutarian. Viktoras Kulvinskas and Ann Wigmore, The Sproutman, etc. Good stuff.

The sproutarians eat/drink sprouts of all kinds, grasses, weeds, seaweeds and algaes, and ferments. The nuts, seeds, grain and legume are all sprouted/germinated, or greened and eaten raw.
