because linking a video of a prototype jet from 2 years ago that crashed after 1 minute means there is going to be a WWIII

Re: WORLD WAR III: Pentagon's 13,000mph Hypersonic Falcon Could Strike Anywhere Within an Hour!
Darpa has a gigantic black silent isosceles triangular antigravity ship that can go to Moon/Mars and beyond and take over 10,000 people anywhere in basically an instant.

I have seen it.

It is awe-inspiring, let me tell you.

It could fly into your ass before you know it and drop a bazillion hydrogen bombs on your head before you knew what hit you. You would not see it on radar. You would not hear it in the sky. You would barely see it in the sky and only if they turned on their yellow running lights. And after they've killed an entire city or three they'd zip out at near-light-speed and go to the dark side of the Moon so you'd never ever be able to even get a shot at them.

I've see this thing. It is awe-inspiring, let me tell you.

Totally silent.

Totally invisible to radar and at night visually.

MASSIVE.

Antigravitics...

I know it exists, this is certainly not the first I've heard of this ship.

I know the drive generation is nuclear-powered. They had the technology in design decades ago, Hell they figured out nuclear propulsion when they first looked at Mars. The reason it was NEVER USED is because it's dangerous as hell, and the fallout of launching the thing would kill thousands every time it took off, and building it in space was too dangerous and expensive.

[link to en.wikipedia.org]

This is the evolution of Project Orion.

When they tested this ship over US soil, they burned lines in the ground and killed several motorists whom they passed over. Irradiated the crap out of them.

Here's a refresher- [link to www.ufocasebook.com]

Which is why nuclear propulsion of this type is banned within earth's atmosphere, and why this project has remained super-secret. It's not only super-advanced, it's super dangerous, and getting this thing working was paid for in blood.

Completely silent, and nearly invisible with yellow/orange running lights. They did vertical takeoff tests over Area 51, with the usual barrage of US fighter jets to shoot the thing down if the pilot tries to defect.

I had no idea the thing was supposed to be so huge. I doubt it's capable of pissing off to the Moon or Mars on a whim, but this type of nuclear propulsion is the most effective means of space-travel technology (that I'm so far aware of).

More info on Project Orion-

A number of engineering problems were found and solved over the course of the project, notably related to crew shielding and pusher-plate lifetime. The system appeared to be entirely workable when the project was shut down in 1965, the main reason being given that the Partial Test Ban Treaty made it illegal (however, before the treaty, the US and Soviet Union had already detonated at least nine nuclear bombs, including thermonuclear bombs, in space, i.e., at altitudes over 100 km: see high altitude nuclear explosions). There were also ethical issues with launching such a vehicle within the Earth's magnetosphere.
[link to en.wikipedia.org]

They took it underground in '65 because nuclear pulse drive fell under a ban treaty. They violated this treaty as early as 1980 fpr testing, and have been developing this technology consistently for the past 30 years:

In the mid-1990s research at the Pennsylvania State University led to the concept of using antimatter to catalyze nuclear reactions. In short, antiprotons would react inside the nucleus of uranium, causing a release of energy that breaks the nucleus apart as in conventional nuclear reactions. Even a small number of such reactions can start the chain reaction that would otherwise require a much larger volume of fuel to sustain. Whereas the "normal" critical mass for plutonium is about 11.8 kilograms, with antimatter catalyzed reactions this could be well under one gram.

Several rocket designs using this reaction were proposed, ones using all-fission for interplanetary missions, and others using fission-fusion (effectively a very small version of Orion's bombs) for interstellar ones.

There is one much faster than this Falcon and it is The Octagon's 1 hundred million (900000000000000) times faster than the speed of light this "TURD" fartsonic reaches its objective even before it is launched and when it booms it kills because it really stenchs horrific. Tens of thousands of years after climbing out of the trees, billions of dollars later and DARPA has created the world's fastest spear.

Yup I was thinking the same thing.

The rationale behind this is that "a b2 taking off from Oklahoma" is too slow. I thought the US military policy was to have military bases all over the world, so they're within striking distance of just about anywhere? This whole thing is a waste of money.

Common sense says they are not gonna parade around the most awesome project they've dumped billions into on Fox News. They are showing what they want you to see. I would question the the intellectual integrity of powers that be if they just started blabbing about what stuff they really have in the works on mass media. Disinformation....

Darpa doesn't announce what its doing for the entertainment of the public, you're totally correct. I wonder if this has something to do with getting public support for a project which is facing funding cuts.

Not to mention it didn't work and crashed dramtically.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 14009197

crashed awesomely - think i saw a quote saying it 'literally flew out of its skin' it was gong so fast. That said, there is a limit to how much more advanced than your competitors you need to be to ensure military superiority - this is the derpa equivalent of cherry coke. Is it really needed?

To bad it's a glider. It needs to ride an ICBM to reach that speed. Might as well just put warhead into orbit and drop in on target like we have been able to do for almost half a century.

Another waste of taxpayer dollars by DERPA.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 11145700

i think the benefit is that it burns oxygen from atmosphere, icbm
doesnt do that

since it gets the oxidizer for its propulsion from the surrounding air, it doesn't have to carry it with it. reduces the amount of fuel, smaller, less expensive
