Is it normal for trees to start dropping leaves in June ???
I've lived in Hillbilly NY for most of my life, and have never noticed what appeared to be early leaf drop until last summer.

Last year I noticed it far before the typical fall shedding.

Yesterday my 3 year old grandaughter said, "Look Grandma it's snowing !!" Sure enough I went outside and our willows are dropping leaves like crazy .... with 3 huge ones in our yard, it certainly looked something like snow fall.

Is this normal, or are we experiencing something completely new in the past 2 years ???

Anyone else noticing it ?

It is rather cool and windy here today, but then again it's only June 11th .... who would have thought summer was in April now in the Northeast ???

Yes I have read about the possible ice age coming about ... and very quickly, but the leaf drop still doesn't make sense unless you add environmental factors.... I think.

Apple orchards here are asking for Federal aid at this point, with the warm late winter, early bud, and unavoidable following frosts and freezes, fruiting has come to a halt.

Personally, I had 3 blooms on my apple trees this year, and not one bee (or any other bug) brave enough to endure the frigid temps in order to pollinate them.

My only hope are my peaches, but they are also falling one one by one falling from the tree ...... devastating year :(

June 21 is the first day of summer, so yes that's odd, they should be just blooming right now.

Two cherry tress in my yard (gifts from the birds), one close to the house, one a few feet out, the further one out started to bud in the bizarre early warm up and then froze, tiny little sparse leaves on half the branches, one closer to house faring a little better but not much. Never heard of the WIFI issue, thats weird.

Trees loose a lot of water through evaporation from their leaves. If they don't receive enough rain they will drop some leaves to conserve water. I see trees shedding leaves all the time in the hot dry months.

The poor freaking trees are so confused, all the plants are. My strawberries produced from December to may and stopped mid-may (June is when I usually get my best harvest) my hydrangeas have been green since around January and my roses were blooming in February.

The seasons are changing.

We are supposed to plunge into the next great Ice Age. From what I understand about it, it's not going to be a gradual one, but rather a sudden type of ordeal. With as many of the volcanoes and even the melting of the tundra in Russia and possibly Canada and Alaska LOTS of methane's being released in almost incalcable rates and measurements. It's merely a matter of time before we see massive drop offs in tempertures planet wide instead of mostly in the Euporean countries. The Earth's axis is WAY off from the 23.5 degrees. That's also a major contributor in a quite a few ways. I don't think that this major Ice Age is going to last a long long time. Maybe a few decades at max. At least I hope so anyways.

I got a ton of sycamore trees that for years shed from the end of spring until early winter. Does that when there's been no rain and it's really hot out.

in brooklyn we have been dropping leaves like crazy here....a couple of weeks ago it truely looked like fall for a week.

but with all the rain now the trees are all full again.
wow trees are cool. i was worried they would not releave...they did.
this might have been from the lack of water from the spring.

you been getting rain up there?

I would have thought so too .... but really , we are getting 1-4 inches of rain a week . That's pretty hard core for here with or without the snow melt.

i truely think the draught this spring might be a root cause....then add the sun in. it just takes time for the damage to make it through the tree's system. the water just is not getting out to the leaves. you watch though after the rain water filters through the tree the leaves should come back.
i saw this about 2 weeks ago in NYC. pretty much all of brooklyn.
i just noticed today it is all better. we have had alot of rain now. it took about 2 weeks to recover from our early fall.
we had one maple i thought was gone.
there was not 1 leaf left. it is fine now. it took about a month for it to recover.

They are dying, maybe not all in one year but bit by bit they are dying. Take a drive around and go see how many are actually in piss poor condition. I've found though that most people can't tell a half dead tree from a perfectly healthy one anymore though. Denial I suppose. But yeah, its happening here on the west coast too, and has been for 3 years now. It will continue, it will get worse, and it is worldwide.
