I would like to know why it matters how much money one has. Is it to make it so high you can't get bailed out? If the judge didn't want him to get bail, he could say no bail. WTF
I'm not defending the guy and really have no opinion about his innocence or guilt. I'm just saying.

Because Zim told the judge and had his wife tell the judge that he was destitute. And his parents testified that the best they could do was to put their house up as bond. So the judge in deference to this testimony did not adjudicate a large amount of money for bail, as he may have if Zim had not said that he was destitute.
In short, Zim lied.
