Re: African Grey Parrot
Do you guys clip there wings?
I don't know that I would do that on the next one.
It's like a plane coming down and they end up getting hurt eventually. I had one bird that flew right out the window(why was it open?) to a tree next door...it was so damn cold out, he decided he would let us take him back home! Got lucky.

Gotta be careful not clipping their wings, we had more then a few escapes over the years. They can easily get freaked out and disoriented, and fly for miles.

Something cool I remember, I spent a few years growing up in Key West back in the 70's, almost everybody had a bird/s ( slight exaggeration ) and lots of people wouldn't clip.

We'd also let some of our birds fly around the island during the day. They'd go hang out at different houses, play with other birds, and always come home at night. There also used to also be quite a few once-caged parrots that had gotten loose and started to breed down there, we had a flock of Red-headed amazons flying around until some assholes starting shooting them with pellet guns.

There was even a blue and gold macaw that would just randomly visit people and hang out for a little while before moving on to another house, quite friendly.
