I am the proud owner of a Landseer (European Continental Type). Should I get him neutered? or will he be too fat and lazy? | |

Should I get him neutered? or will he be too fat and lazy? I don't know what a Landseer Pyrenee is, but I have a Great Pyrenee. She looks pretty much that like, but all white. She is very calm, very gentle. She was VERY easy to train. I got her when she was 10 weeks old. She is now 10 :(. The only real issue I have ever had with her was that she doesn't know boundaries. She doesn't run off, but will wander off if not fenced in...which she is. She liked to herd my kids when they were smaller, lol. It was pretty comical. She has hip problems now, being that she is so big and 10 years old, but nothing major. "Imagine no possessions" "As Above, So Below" )O( Rach |

(Get a Dyson) :) aren't they gorgeous?! a friend has a pup for me and is giving me a reduced price. my kid got given one as an older dog but it was a lot of trouble you literally could never take it of the leash or out of its pen or it ran off.we were in the country area but the dog was raised in the city which i think hurt it i have since run into others owners who have had the same trouble with these dogs |

Quoting: Salt I am so excited!! Is yours registered separate from the Newfoundland? It looks like there are two types depending on the kennel club. I remember reading about them, very pretty! Quoting: Salt I am so excited!! No longer but I used to be the proud owner of a Landseer Newfie. She lived to be 11 years old. Good for a Newfie. True story.... We had just moved back to a city we left a @ 4 years prior . My daughter was @ 4 . We lived on a corner in a small neighborhood and had a good sized fenced in yard. There was an older man across the street on the other corner who lived there a very long time. He would come over and chat quite often ,over the fence ,when we were out in the yard. One day my daughter and I were out in the yard with our Newfie and the neighbor let himself in the gate and started up his usul banter. As he was standing there talking he began touching my daughters head. My Newfie would take his hand and moved it away from daughter. This happened twice. At first I was a little embarrassed as a Newfie is slobbery. But then when she wouldn't heed my instructions I was a bit confused. My Newfie also wedged her way so as to be between my daughter and the man. Later I related the incident to some friends who had grown up in that neighborhood years prior . I told them it wasn't like the dog to behave like that typically. They asked who the man was . Turns out he had molested little girls in that neighborhood when these friends were kids. |

BTW...We had to stop taking her to the beach with us as she kept "rescuing" everyone. lol Problem was she would swallow a lot of salt water and get sick. |
