I'm having very disturbing dreams....
I am having some extremely vivid, horrible dreams. They are so bad I am having them every night now and I wake up in a cold sweat. I have had nightmares my entire life but this last week they have been worse than normal and everynight.

I just want them to stop....or at least for me to not remember them. I'm in my mid 30s and I know I should not let them bother me this bad. After the last 3 nights of dreams, I am actually dreading going to sleep tonight. I really don't want to have another one. They are so vivid that I have to wake up and "talk myself out of" the dream due to my heart racing and sweating like crazy.

Anyone have any advice of what I can do to calm my mind so I can maybe stop them?

Thanks in advance for any help, I really appreciate it!

it may seem trite but ask Jesus to help you. even if you have faith the size of a mustard seed he can help. also pray for faith. if you can while in the dream yell out his name. evil will flee. if doesnt calm you enough get a bible ask him to help open it and ask the holy spirit to guild and help you understand it and start reading. God can help us no matter what if were still alive. please believe me i had so much fear when i was younger. came out in my dreams. doesnt any more.smile_hear

Re: I'm having very disturbing dreams....
Your dreams are there for you to learn, experience and understand, sometimes they are literal, but more often they are symbolic. I suggest that you write them down and think about the meaning of the dreams, try to decipher the message. Get a pad, write your intention every night, if you need a good night of sleep write down your wish before bed in your dream journal. Or just say it as you go to bed.

I have some questions for you.

Have you been battling over something recently, digging your heels in?

Do you need to gather information about something in your life now?

Are you feeling stuck at present, or wanting more?

I think perhaps you have people around you that love you? If true then remember it, and draw comfort from it.

Perhaps there is something in your life you need to let go of, it could be thoughts or feelings even, then maybe you can move forward with faith.

Some things to think about at least, and of course, no need to answer these in this thread.

Good luck.

Yes, my daughter had terrible nightmares for a long time and she asked Jesus to make them stop, and they did. I would only think they come from God if you were seeing things such as tribulation events which are terrible, but God shows those things to some people as a warning of what is coming soon. If its something tormenting you, say, zombies chasing you relentlessly, then they are just evil nightmares meant to drain you of your peace.
By night on my bed I sought him whom my soul loveth.

The last 3 nights they have been similar. Two I was being chased and one I was the one chasing. I think I'm being chased and chasing the same thing. It just feels the same.

The first two I was being chased by "something" that was morphing into different things.

Two nights ago...this thing was trying to trick me to get me to come to it. For example one time it changed into a dog and ran in front of a car...(I am a dog lover) so I ran to try to rescue it. Well halfway to the road I realized I was being tricked and it really wasn't a dog it was this "thing". I turned to run and it was instantly behind me and pushed me down a huge hill which caused me to "snowball" down the hill. I was stopped by a sliding glass door of a home and I hit it hard. In the dream I was so badly hurt that I couldn't physically move but somehow I got up and walked away while my body was still laying there. I ran into this home and was trying to tell the family I needed help. This "thing" came inside and electrocuted the family in front of me. The "thing" said "no-one can hide from me" and "I am coming for all". At that point in the dream I jumped out of a 2nd or 3rd story window to try to escape. That is when I woke up.

Last night, it felt like the same thing only that I was chasing it. It was like I was fed up with the pain it was inflicting on people and I was going to confront it. I watched it hurt or kill people in what seemed like war or something. Its so hard to describe, It's like it was going from group to group of people and wreaking havoc. For some reason in that dream I was less afraid and just wanted to stop it from hurting people. When I woke up though it was no different, I was terrified at how vivid it was.

I have wanted to learn lucid dreaming. I have often thought that if I could just realize I am dreaming then I could change the outcome. I don't know how to actually do it though.

Intention to do it is the first step, keeping a dream journal helps a lot as well. You can do it if you want to. There are many techniques as well, google it, or look up past threads on GLP about it.

It doesn't really give off anything like light. It has been (or morphed into) many different people or things but I get the feeling it's always the same no matter what it looks like. When it was a dog though it was a beautiful white dog. It was a smaller dog with a shorter coat, but it was an amazingly beautiful bright white coat.

Just remember everytime you let a foot or hand hang over the edge of the bed an alligator is there to bite it.

I've found dogs in dreams to mean 'follow your senses', like sniffing something out, being a detective. Dogs are often very inquisitive. People's dream symbols can vary a lot though, as you are a dog lover it could mean something very different.

So the thing has many different forms, interesting.
You could ask tonight when you write in your dream journal for guidance on what the thing is.

Re: I'm having very disturbing dreams....
As a side note, I've found scary dreams are often the way the subconscious mind gets your attention, because the meaning contained in the dream is significant! We are more likely to wake up during/after the dream and more likely to remember it. So by improving your dream recall, and setting the intention to address the issues coming up, you are likely to have fewer 'scary' dreams (IMO --disclaimer alert-- ).

Good idea! I will do this. Whatever this 'thing' is it has been there for 3 nights in a row. I think if I could use your advice and ask for guidance on what it is I might not be so afraid of it.

I guess the dog thing really surprised me. It was like it knew how much I love dogs and it knew if it morphed into a dog and ran in front of a car it could get me because I would do everything I could to rescue it. I know it is my own subconscious creating the dream but I have never been "tricked" like that in a dream.

There are times OP where I've gone through a spell of bad dreams too and at those times I sleep with a bible and it works. Also try vitamin B6 before going to bed....like in a banana. B6 effects dreams in a good way.

Be careful what you watch on T.V.
Try listering to some soothing music
when you go to sleep...if this does not
help ...drink a bottle of wiskey before
bedtime..

Im also suffering from extremly vivid dreams, I think mine are linked to the fact i recently quit smoking cannabis..

If you really cant stand your dreams smoke a joint before you go to bed and you WILL NOT dream at all, Well you will dream but your sleep will be too deep to rememeber them.
