I avoid ham. And pork. When i am home ( off ship) i eat organic. But aboard the ship i eat what is available.

On rare occasion i do pee off the side of the vessel although it is illegal. But some rules were meant to be broken and i'm sure many fish do more damage than i ever will. In mid ocean i am permitted to flush many thousands of gallons of raw human waste. Which i do. The Navy jettisons more than you want to know.

Most ships are roughneck environments that require real men. Queers don't apply to these jobs and if they do they get weeded out fast.

Most guys out here are hard working fathers and husbands. Or young bucks with a different girl in each port.

Go to your nearest coast guard station and acquire the two credentials you'll need. An MMC (Merchant Mariner Credential) and a TWIC ( Transportation Workers ID Card). Take a drug test. Get FBI background check. Get job. Takes two weeks. Easy process.

A hundred or so for each credential last I checked. Total cost about $250.

A starting deckhand job on a ship pays about $300 per day with full benefits.
