RF User ID: 1287633 United States 06/14/2012 09:26 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | here's what I know. Elisha was a disciple of Elijah, who was a great prophet. Elijah went before the king and his wife Jezebel, and denounced them for what they were doing to the country. From this, we know that both Elijah and his study, Elisha, must have been well known to everyone.. When Elijah was taken to heaven, he told Elisha that if he witnessed it, he would receive a double portion of his spirit. Elisha did indeed witness it. The children were clearly disrespecting the new prophet of the Lord, by taunting him. And the scripture tells us he merely cursed them, but does not say what he said exactly. Then two female bears came and killed the boys. it is possible that Elisha never actually expected the curse to bring about such a severe consequence. It is also possible that the bears didn't immediately attack the boys but that the writer new that after he cursed them the boys were attacked. in the end, it would be the Lord that caused the bears to go on a rampage, not Elisha. Perhaps this was a sign to respect this guy because if you thought Elijah was one bad prophet, you better see his student Elisha. |

I'd have to go find that bible verse but maybe that's why they were teasing him? Quoting: sleepypoochy Maybe I stand corrected but these verses don't give a good clue either... And if there be in the bald head, or bald forehead, a white reddish sore; it is a leprosy sprung up in his bald head, or his bald forehead.” -- Leviticus 13:42 “For every head shall be bald, and every beard clipped: upon all the hands shall be cuttings, and upon the loins sackcloth.” -- Jeremiah 48:37 “Ye are the children of the Lord your God: ye shall not cut yourselves, nor make any baldness between your eyes for the dead.” -- Deuteronomy 14:1 And they shall make themselves utterly bald for thee, and gird them with sackcloth, and they shall weep for thee with bitterness of heart and bitter wailing.” -- Ezekiel 27:31 “Make thee bald, and poll thee for thy delicate children; enlarge thy baldness as the eagle; for they are gone into captivity from thee.” -- Micah 1:16 |

While he was on the way, some small boys came out of the city and jeered at him. "Go up, baldhead," they shouted, "go up, baldhead!" (24) The prophet turned and saw them, and he cursed them in the name of the LORD. Then two she-bears came out of the woods and tore forty-two of the children to pieces. (25) From there he went to Mount Carmel, and thence he returned to Samaria. I'm having a tough time with this one. I believe in the Bible, but based off what we know of God from the New Testament, I do not believe that he would have 42 children torn apart by bears for calling a prophet bald. Any deeper insight into this would be appreciated. The prophet turned and saw them, and he cursed them in the name of the LORD The prophet ... one being 42 months .. children as birth pains. two she-bears... wild females tore are tare ...separation of the harvest. We have to wait till elisha dies to go to bethel.... he should be bald by that time.... He cursed them in his own name. Last Edited by <x> on 06/14/2012 09:48 PM |

It was also where the Ark of the Covenant was housed during the time of the 'Judges' It was considered a very holy place by God and the prophets. Where were the parents of these 42 kids. Sounds like these kids were a lot like today's street kids. You don't go dissing God's man. |

Little children or not, that obviously calls for accountability. |
