[link to answers.yahoo.com]

Yes. Indian Scientist Dr. Jagadishchandra Bose invented a instrument named crescograph & did many experiments on plants.
The great biologist, who showed those plants, too can feel in their own way.

His experiments showed that plants grow faster in pleasant music and its growth retards in noise or harsh sound.

Can plants actually hear sound? This was the conclusion of Cleve Backster back in the 1960s. He's the former CIA interrogation specialist that connected polygraph sensors to plants and discovered that they reacted to harm (i.e. cutting their leaves) and even to harmful thoughts of humans in proximity to them.

Re: What will vegans eat now that they have discovered that plants have feelings?
here's possible enlightenment for you

everything has feelings, they all incarnated here in service to us, the plants and the animals

the difference being meat is a lower vibration because they are a higher conscious (some say swine are more intelligent than dogs) therefore are capable of reasoning and experiencing great amounts of fear. they are raised in the concentration camp like enviroment and realize what is going on while they are being scolded alive.

this vibration sticks in the meat and then enters your body

think of the kosher diet, where the animal must have lived a healthy life, was loved, and slaughter painlessly with one single cut by a priest and die instantly. That would be a high vibration meat, the best possible death.

So you make the choice.

From my point of view, it's okay. However, I think we have to give them better environment and treatment, and we have to thank them before we eat them, for they are becoming part of us.

I don't think there's a problem with eating animals, either, but it's just that we can't abuse them during their life-time like the mega factory-farms do. Imagine all the hatred contained in those flesh. It's horrifying.

Funny how people thank God and Jesus for providing their meals instead of thanking the animals that died for their sake.

The difference: Plants don't have a soul (conciousness). Most vegans don't eat anything that has a conciousness because it would place themselve higher than the other and everything is equal, it's us, our ego that places itself higher than that something else. It's not bad or wrong, it's a process of being aware of it.

What about the Shamans that learned how to make Ayahuasca?

They stated that the plants themselves told them which ones to mix to create a form of DMT in which the alkaloids would become digestible using other plants...

I would say that shows plants have a form of consciousness right?

If you were to use water to memorize the frequency of the emotion being directed at the water.. which can be seen in freezing water to make hexagonal patters in which they all have different structure and fractals... as well as distorted frozen forms with certain feelings..

So if water was able to copy the frequency of emotion and even have it show in a solid sate, you in theory could give healthier forms of water to feed your plants. I would be further led to the idea that since most things in life need water..

So if there is a transfer of emotion just in water, then it has a good possibility of being a part of a plant as well..

Do you ask the tree before you take its nuts, or leaves?

If not, then how do you know that it is OK with it?

Plants are living things so wouldnt be surprised if they do react to certain sounds and have feelings. But mourning over bacteria, dont know about that one. But the orange picture is cute, as are the marijuana plants in the article.

at the risk of obviously being trolled by the OP, here is my answer..

nature is being built on eating and being eaten...in animals there are no harsh feelings when they kill and eat their pray, they do so without emotions..

now, if you can't stop the difference (ethically and biologically)between grapping yourself an apple from an apple tree (which by the way, the apple tree actually relies on in order to make new little apple trees in the surroundings) and mass animal stocks like hen farms or cows being fed their own relatives in order to make them grow faster, then you should think about it a bit...

but then again, i think your just trolling..

Yes, so you agree that if you run sheep/cattle/chickens in an open area, and only take enough to keep the herd under control, then you are OK.

Well some people can talk to inanimate objects too (guess how I know lol), so not sure if people being able to talk to them proves their conciousness, though not doubting that they are concious.

no you kind of got it twisted there scuba for nature is nature.. and certain things are meant to be eaten by other things.. it is a natural process thus called nature.. as in back in the day when a tribe in the ancient world was hungry out of the pastor one of the cows say for instance would come to the hungry man to be its dinner.. there was not even a need to hunt for meat when nature was balanced.. you know what im trying to say? the food chain.. natural thing.. all nature.. all natural.. we are the top of the food chain so really almost anything goes except fucked up shit like eating our own species and so on..

Obviously this person is not aware himself, or he would never say such BS
Does a plant not respond to sunlight, water, or send out offensive odor if an animals eats too much on it so it can stay alive???
Do they not develop thorns to discourage potential damage to themselves? Does an apple tree produce oranges?
Where do you think that intelligence comes from???
In order for anything to live it must have a consciousness.
Hard to believe folks just talk/write without thinking about what they are saying!crazy
All of you who think its not intelligence driven just go watch "the secret life of plants" and then make an informed decision without just babbling about things you don't know!

Vegans and other vegetarians know the health benefits of eating vegetables, fruits and grains. The consciousness of these is not as developed as animal consciousness. Vegans have never maintained plants don't have consciousness.

there is a lot of truth in your post. ive grown a lot of plants in green houses and have owned many animals and the way you treat them/ talk to them makes a lot of difference. plants grow stonger and better, chickens lay more and better eggs, etc.

oh, and generally pigs are smarter than dogs.

 Quoting: RAe 1013438

If you think that kosher meat offers animals "a healthy life" and "the best possible death" I highly recommend you watch the video clip "If This is Kosher"

As for what vegans will do... we will continue to recommend that everyone adopt a vegan diet. If you are concerned about the welfare of plants, the very best thing you can do is become a vegan... vegans consume anywhere from 5 to 20 times fewer plants than do carnists. This is because we eat the plants directly; animals raised for food must themselves be fed an extraordinary amount of plants and grains just to produce just a few ounces of meat. In fact, the majority of the edible grains produced worldwide are fed to livestock, while people starve. There is no dietary reason whatsoever for humans to voluntarily consume animals – in fact, it is highly detrimental to our health – and so by eating plants you are doing the least possible harm while maximizing your own health, welfare and nutrition, naturally.

And in fact, by eating a vegan diet you saving not only the millions of plants that would have been fed to the cattle, you are also saving the plants, rainforests, coral reefs, and other irreplaceable eco systems that are being completely destroyed by animal agriculture. Raising animals for meat is arguably the most environmentally destructive of all human activities; scientists estimate that 150-200 species of plant, insect, bird and mammal become extinct every 24 hours. This is nearly 1,000 times the “natural” or “background” rate, and is greater than anything the world has experienced since the vanishing of the dinosaurs nearly 65 million years ago. To quote Thom Hartmann, “In the 24 hours since this time yesterday, over 200,000 acres of rainforest have been destroyed in our world. Fully 13 million tons of toxic chemicals have been released into our environment. Over 45,000 people have died from starvation, 38,000 of them children And more 130 plan and animal species have been driven to extinction by the actions of humans. And all this just since yesterday.”

And, believe it or not, Animal Agriculture is one of the greatest contributors to this worldwide environmental destruction... it is for animal agriculture that we are clear-cutting rainforests and permanently destroying the world's most important resources. Scientists have confirmed that we are now indeed experiencing the sixth mass extinction in global history and that our very survival as a species is in jeopardy. Meat production contributes to pollution and global warming more than all modes of transportation in the entire world combined, and the majority of all fresh water and consumable grain around the globe continues to be reserved for livestock to produce meat for a few greedy nations, even though it is crystal clear that this level of meat consumption cannot be sustained. Even the United Nations is calling for a worldwide shift to a vegan diet as the ONLY way to avert mass starvation and global disaster, and to ensure the survival of the human species.

Local “family farms” and “grass raised, grass fed” cows are not a viable solution to these problems, as some people suggest, because these “ethical” farms are actually exponentially more damaging to the environment in terms of land-use, energy use, water consumption and especially methane nitrous oxide production (greenhouse gases more potent than carbon that contribute greatly to global warming) as compared with factory-farmed animals. Additionally, to satisfy the American meat habit, every single one of the 2.25 billion acres of United States land would have to be given over completely to cattle grazing… and additional land would still be needed. To sustain the world’s meat habit we would need the resources of two entire planet earths… and in case you hadn’t noticed… we only have the one.
