Medic User ID: 1366222 United States 06/16/2012 12:14 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | So i had been taking an anti anxiety medication called buspar for eight months, i called off when i was sick one day because i didnt have the money to fill my script and he told me he doesnt want any mechanics (i work maintenance in a factory) taking any medications and that if i wanted to keep my job i had to stop taking my medication. Can a boss force an employee to stop taking a medication that was perscribed by a dr? Because of him making me stop taking my meds i went threw withdraw pretty bad because i was forced to stop cold turkey and missed work because of it. Quoting: dr green thumb (nli) 7974671 I was just wondering if there is any legal recourse i can take against my boss? Because of the time i missed they threatened to fire me and i had to jump through hoops to be able to keep this job. Id realy be grateful if someone could help shed some light on the situation for me. I dont think its right what they did and am wondering if i should talk to a lawyer or not? I do have anxiety problems and they helped me with it a lot. I dont know what to do really and am seeking some advice. Go back to your doctor and tell him, get back on the meds. Maybe you can take a milder dose. See what the doctor says about your employer. Get everything in writing, from your doc and document everything from your employer. Just incase. But you need to take the meds. |

What the OP's employer is doing, is definately against the law. I had a difficult boss at one point. She was my immediate supervisor. I was 2 months pregnant with my oldest daughter, and I already had a baby bump. My supervisor told me I had to quit my job, as a pregnant woman working didn't look good. I refused and contacted the EEOC. She got fired. Praise God from Whom all Blessings flow !!! |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 15114145 Any lawyer will jump at the chance to work this case. At any rate, you must be the first to file a complaint. Then if they fire you it's retaliation, they get in a ton of trouble. But if you don't complain and they make up some excuse to fire you, it's hard for you to say it's retaliation. I know this sucks, now you probably think things are OK with the boss again and don't want to be an ass. My experience is that probably things are not OK with the boss; you have to be the judge, but don't wear rose-colored glasses. Good luck. |
