Re: HELP - I need to dissolve the tartar on my teeth!
Does anyone know of a way to do this? I mean, is there some liquid I can swish around my teeth that will dissolve the tartar but leave the teeth intact?

Problem is, no matter how often I floss/brush I always get painful tartar buildup within days of seeing the dentist.

There's got to be a way!

mix a little baking soda with some peroxide to make a paste and use this everyday. works great. and also get the little scaling instrument like a poster mentioned and scrape off any tartar buildup from teeth and near gum lines when it happens. and if you don't have or want to use peroxide then baking soda works fine. the peroxide will just help your gums and also keep your teeth white.

try something called Oil Pulling. You swish around sunflower oil in your mouth for a few minutes a day, better at twice a day and it is supposed to build healthier gums, really whiten your teeth, and give all around health benefits.

There was a thread on this subject a while back around here. I have always meant on starting but never have. Of course it is supposed to take a good amount of time to see results. Any natural process does

Re: HELP - I need to dissolve the tartar on my teeth!
Once I had a mild case of flu for which I took oil of oregano, two drops under the tongue (yeow!) about 4 times a day. I was surprised when some little chunks of plaque just fell off my teeth after about the third day. I had to spit them out. It was completely unexpected. And yes, it WAS plaque.

Another thing you could try, get one of those hokey looking gum massagers. They look like a short metal chopstick with a red rubber tip that you use like a toothpick - drugstores carry them. First brush your teeth, then floss and rinse. Think your teeth are clean? Think again...use that little rubber point all around the gum line and in between the teeth. Use it like a toothpick and you will be AMAZED at what brushing and flossing missed. Once I started using that thing, I am hooked, as it gets your mouth SO CLEAN.

Oh, just realized this thread was started a few years ago, ha ha, probably no OP anymore interested, but hopefully someone can use this information.

baking soda and lemon juice
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 998166

baking soda is an abrasive which is like sanding the enamal off of your teeth, lemon just is acidic and will not only lower the ph of your mouth allowing harmful bacteria to thrive, it also will decay your tell. i hate to think what both would do together.

best bet is to hold your brush at a 45% angle to your gum line and roll the brush toward the crown of the teeth, do not hurry and do it about 9 or 10 times a section, this will help with getting the plaque (which causes tarter) from under the gum line. Floss twice a day and if you want, use a tooth pick through out the day, using the end when it becomes splayed out to trace your gum line, and pick up a water pic and mix 25% peroxid with water to help flush to the area below the gumline of harmful bacteria with water solution (this is not a proven way to remove plaque, just will flush the sulcus area).

Neither of these will desolve tarter (tartor is calcified plaque) so the only way to prevent tarter is removing the plaque.

Another vote here for oil pulling and baking soda/peroxide. You can even add a drop of clove oil or oregano oil to the oil you are swishing. Sesame and sunflower are the two that are recommended, although some people have claimed to have gotten good results with other oils. I prefer the taste of the sunflower oil. Also, to improve the taste of the baking soda/peroxide mixture, you can add a few drops of peppermint, spearmint, wintergreen oil, etc.

Re: HELP - I need to dissolve the tartar on my teeth!
Okay, this really works for me, whitening the teeth.

First of all, don't touch normal toothpaste. Every time I use it, my teeth actually become more yellow. Test it for yourself.

Stay away from cokes at night, or other dark colored foods.

Eat more apples.

Now, at night, wash your teeth with a white wash cloth. Have the wash cloth warm and slightly moist, not soaking wet. Scrub your teeth, all over, using different parts of the wash cloth. You will be amazed at how much yellow gets onto the cloth.

Next, brush your teeth with Dawn dish soap. It gets off the oil and dissolves some of the stains with enzymes. I don't trust dawn with bleach. I would stick to the Dawn without dyes in it. After you give your mouth a good brushing, rinse very well, and wash with a new cloth. Once again, you will be amazed at the yellow that comes off.

One thing people do that leaves a lot of yellow in the teeth is they neglect cleaning the back sides. That was my main problem. You really, really have to spend more time on the back sides of your teeth.

Okay, that's what I do. If you repeat this process the next morning, your teeth will look ten times better. And all you did was two cleanings with Dawn and a wash cloth. Oh, you can put baking soda on the wash cloth, but I don't really think it helps that much.

Good luck. I hope it helps you.

For cavities, put 1/3 bleach 2/3 water solution into them, drop by drop, rinse after six or ten seconds, repeat. The bleach water will kill the infection, and you will be amazed how long a tooth with a hole in it can last. Only do this about once a week or so. It also kills tooth pain. But watch your clothes, I've destroyed to pairs of pants doing this.

A few drops of diluted bleach water will not hurt you if you swallow it.

Once again, good luck.

Or use tooth soap. Can get it in your health food store or over the internet. Never use regular toothpaste. It leaves a film on your teeth that promotes tartar and decay.

Sad thing is that at least half the dentist believe the BS they learned in dental school.

I use MMS=sodium chlorite to clean my teeth. It is used in a lot of tartar control formulas. But if you use it with just a little citric acid It works great. You will be amazed\ google MMS magic mineral solution.
