Right after the election I remember reading an article written by a college professor. He said that Obama wasn't even qualified to run a Dairy Queen. His is so right.

Why is this an Issue? What is wrong with you people is whats stopping you from getting it right. President Spending? Any President are you serious? You people campaign of Lies and Ignorance just doesnt stop. Hate is a river no man can swim and survive.

Huge federal spending was required to stop the 08 economic plunge under Bush. This isn't ancient history. The numbers don't lie. Bush was visibly scared in his bailout speech. Things looked grim. Obama had no choice, even Republican economists agreed to spend to keep the ship floating.

Well at least I had money back then. My boss too.

The problem Mr. Obama faces is that all of that debt was created by Republicans. When Mr. Bush came into office in January 2001, there was no deficit at all, there was a 100 BUSD surplus, and the debt was a fraction of what it is today. Within in just a year or two the surplus vanished and the debt and deficit were skyrocketing. Mr. Bush and the Republican controlled congress had launched two wars but did not want to raise taxes to pay for them so they borrowed all of the money. Mr. Bush of course believed that the oil revenues from Iraq would pay for the cost of the war, which of course did no happen.

On top of all of this, Mr. Bush introduced the Medicare Part D prescription drug plan which cost billions of dollars (with an eye to buying some votes) but again refused to raise taxes to pay for this bill. Let us go a step further, on December 17, 2010, President Obama signed into law the Tax Relief, Unemployment Insurance Reauthorization and Job Creation Act of 2010, (H.R. 4853) a bill passed by the Republican controlled house that extended tax cuts to the wealthiest Americans while extending unemployment benefits to millions of Americans. It does not take a mathematical genius to realize that if benefits are extended and taxes cut, the deficit will be increased.

Conservatives and Republicans like to talk about “cutting government” but they do the exact opposite. In 1978 the US government budget was set at 478 BUSD while in 1988, after two terms of Ronald Reagen it was 1,118.5 BUSD. In 2008, after two terms of George W. Bush, it had increased to 2,537.9 BUSD.

The vast majority of the debt and deficit that can be seen today are Republican creations.

It certainly appears that the man is in over his head. I hope the election comes before it is too late...

The appearance of more money being spent is because the money is worthless and you have to use 'more' to continue the tirade..This is why gold is so high, anyone? i'm not for or against the current establishment, but i am a proponent of common-fucking-sense..

The economy collapsed while Bush was president. Obama's policies are prolonging the pain. If you want real change don't vote for a Democrat or Republican.

I was the best President.

What people are missing is that the TARP funds $ 700 BILLION has almost ALL been repaid by the banks, WITH interest. Where is the accounting for this money? That means about $ TRILLION repaid and spent! So add that to the $ 5 Trillion Obama has spent.

I couldn't agree more. We can only hope that Romney is better. We don't have any other realistic choice in this election.

Yep, 4 more years is gonna suck, but the GOP has no one to blame but themselves.

I sometimes wonder if Obama's plan is to spend the US into bankruptcy and bring down the empire that way, similar to the way Reagan caused the downfall of the USSR by forcing it to overspend on military weapons in order to match the US.
