Learn to not let the external define the internal you. The one should never equal the other unless you choose to suffer in life chasing what others think you should be.

I'm an empath,

I feel it's been becoming stronger over the years, I can pick up a lot, and sometimes it is overwhelming.

I tend to stay out of large crowds when I can..

We live in interesting times...

Be proactive with yourself instead of reactive. Again... Choose to be yourself and do it before it's too late and you find yourself in the Maelstrom reacting with bad results.

Thanks for the replies. Its just hard to stay balanced when everyone is fighting all around you...literally. People are always arguing, screaming at their kids, and just being flat out ignorant. I'm good at ignoring it but its annoying..like the shit wakes me up out of my sleep. I'd move but I'm unable to right now :/

When people fight around you it upsets you only because they interact with the aspect of yourself that they are exhibiting.

it doesn't upset me. the noise literally disturbs me. I'm not gonna meditate til I'm deaf, though. lol

not consciously. it happens though. I've been dreaming lucidly a lot lately, but my dream recall has been a bit effed because I wake up to screaming and loud music and the memory fades so quickly.

Try and hang out in nature as much as you can to keep your balance, find a park and sit on the grass/ground, it helps a-lot.

Learn about shielding (ya really need to do that anyway if your an empath).

Those won't work for long... as you'll quickly find yourself keying off of and noticing expressions and body language next What's next wearing blinders or staying away from other people? Much easier to train yourself to be at peace in whatever environment you find yourself in so nothing external bothers you. Then all that is left is to work internally on yourself.Might as well start with that and cut out the middle as the end result will be the same anyway.
