Heard my name called when waking up

I heard my name called one morning approx 2 years ago and it freaked me out. It was really loud and firm. I called on everyone in my family, and no one was there.I told me mother, and she had heard her name called too! So we just tlaked about it and then forgot it.

Last night, a fairly new friend came over, and we where talking about a lot of things and experiences. She told me that approx 2 years ago she heard her name called right before she woke up. I don't know if its a strange coincidence, or what! I have never shared that with anyone, except for my mom. My new friend and I just couldn't believe it.

Has anyone else experienced this? I have searched the internet, and some people believe it is their Guide trying to get them to "wake up" to something. I am wondering if it was about my drinking that my Guide wanted me to "wake up" and quit drinking, which I now have 6 months as of today, I pick up my 6 month sobriety chip from AA. My new friend is also in AA, so we have something in common. My mother doesn't drink though.

Has anyone had any similar experience? Has anyone been able to meet another who had the exact same experience, not a family member, just a random person? Does anyone know what it means?

It is a common form of auditory hallucination. You may hear your name being called, a knock at the door, or even faint music. It also can manifest itself from alcohol withdrawals if you have recently become sober that may be your answer.

^^^^ mine was the same, like a very loud whisper, said softly but loudly and clearly.

Loud enough to bring you out of a dream state that's for sure.

makes me wonder whats going on? i thought i was the only one experiencing weird metaphysical things

This is the first vision / snippet that I have had since mid-April 2011.

I was in deep sleep, dreaming non-specific, inane dreams when I heard my name said VERY loudly, insistently and almost like a command. It was a man's voice, and looking back on the moment I had a sense of a man's silhouette, though I could not see him actually, nor any of his features.

I came awake instantly. I was confused because the name calling was so loud, the voice was so loud, that I thought for sure I had heard it with my ears, and not in my head. I looked around, it was still dark, and I rolled over and asked my husband (who was asleep) if he had said my name. "Huh? What? No"

So then I decided it was someone (God, angels, whatever name you want) trying to ge my attention, so I said "I'm listening" and I rolled back over and went to sleep.

And then I dreamt of water over the land in Arkansas. I didn't see the waters come, I don't know how they got here, but I saw the land covered in water, and there was debris floating on it - like leaves and sticks and a little trash, as if there was s great churning before they settled over the land.

My husband and I were on vacation in Hot Springs, Arkansas (while I had this dream, it was our last morning there) and I was really growing attached to the place. I could even be guilty of dreaming about buying property there and maybe thinking of it as a 'retreat' for tumultuous times ahead. I think this information was meant to let me know that this is not the place that we should count on retreating to when TSHTF.

Yes, I've also had this happen several times to me, usually as I was waking up, but once at work, I had my back to my friend, and I heard her ask me a question, so I turned around and answered her, and she almost fainted, because she hadn't said anything aloud, but she was thinking the question. lol, I heard her quite clearly. What can I say, five senses are not our limit I think.
