But this study doesn't simply point to "junk food" resources, it points to all resources (even apples). In other words, anyone who eats "over the limit" is a liability to what I always believed to be a renewable natural resource... food!

What is the next step, rationing? Food vouchers? This all just seems a little unnatural, restrictive, and tho its often overused, Orwellian - thats all.

People have eaten for years. There have been overweight people for years. Now suddenly it's a drain on a renewable resource like food?

My dad use to work in a large grocer distribution center in Florida and said it disgusted him the amount of good food that was thrown away due to "defective packaging." If we have food to waste, we must have enough food to eat without destroying the earth, right?

The difference between us and "other species" is that we have the intelligence and ability to replant, raise and irrigate as much as needed without hunting and gathering until everything is gone.

The planet has to burn more energy to rotate on its axis, because of fat people and their tremendous weight.

Think of the poor planet struggling to rotate.... struggling to barely make it around the Sun every year, 365 days a year..

And look at those selfish fat people putting so much strain on the earth, making her struggle to spin on her axis..

It is being dump and getting fat via eating of junk food produced by capitalistic Monsanto is what you should be worry about, not mystical commies.

although I think a society needs to be aware of such issues such as obesity, I think this is a bunch of GREEN FASCIST propaganda. If the system is facing pressure because a bunch of fat asses can't stop eating, then we need to invest in expanding our infrastrucutre to meet the requirements of future population growth. Damns and waterways in dry areas to allow for further agriculture would be one way.

Life is tuff for those overweight. There are many factors that contribute to this but I strongle beleive Fructose is a huge factor. People need to be aware.

I am not agreeing with Orwellian tactics to avoid the problem, but there are 7 billion people on this planet. can you even imagine what 7 billion people look like? i am not saying that restricting people through legislation is right - it is actually all wrong (but i am a-political so i dont buy into the right vs left argument, that is just drama fodder for the masses to amuse themselves with) what I am saying is people need to wake up. be healthy. do something productive with your lives and quit being fat, lazy, non productive, wasteful, etc.

dude, i argue all the time that the economy can not be bad if grocery stores and restaurants can waste millions of pounds of food a day. However, that is the work of the free market. without waste, the free market economy would come to a halt.

PLUS - with mass die offs of bees.. well, the food is gonna slow down.. sorry, but its true. we will be left with chemically engineered food with no nutritional value.. but hey, we wanted it.. we bought it.. we got it.

Well they actually do put pressure on earth's resources, it's only common sense. Whether people are willing to admit it (and especially those fat people that need to admit it and take personal responsibility) or not, it's a very real concern.

Look around, there are so many disgusting fat people that refuse to stop being so selfish and over consuming so goddamn much, and that goes for every area of their lives too. Gluttony is not only restricted to food. Even some of the comments here are a reflection of this same selfish attitude.

Maybe they shouldn't be imposing restrictions, but then again if their weren't so many selfish fat people around who could care less about others, they wouldn't feel the need to.

I apologize if this offends anyone, but sorry it's the truth IMO.

Humans can get more resources off earth than on earth. Just gotta get more capable. The universe is infinite. Resources are infinite. The only thing finite is our capability.

Well, Americans HAVE to be fatter. Most people are on the other side of the world. We have to make up for the imbalance otherwise the earth has to use more energy to keep in balance when it's indeed lopsided.

Environmentalists are some of the most wasteful people out there, unintentionally.

Addionally, the environmental movement is being hijacked and they are being used as useful idiots, and the result is more damage to the environment.

An example, is that to "save the environment" my girlfriend's college does not have printers anymore, for students to print off their timetables etc.

So what this means is that, every single student who goes to that college THOUSANDS every year, has to go and buy a printer, printer ink and printer paper.

How is that doing any good?

First we need to look at the real stupidity and false economy of environmentalism before we start nitpicking fat/black people.

You dumbass. They are paying farmers NOT to grow food, intentionally flooding farmland in the central US, regulating farmers out of business, and now telling us we can't grow our own gardens. It's not that the earth can't produce enough, it's the governments and corporations like Monsanto want to control everything!
