You'll have to excuse my ignorance, what does 'bump' mean? I've seen this on many posts, often displayed on a road sign, but I honestly don't know what it means.

To bump is to raise your post to the top of the list (but below the pins).

Ratings are just an indicator to how useful the post might be. A post with 30+ 1 stars is a good indicator the thread isn't worth reading.

So ratings alone don't affect a thread but replying or bumping a thread moves it to the top of the current list. If you were to bump a thread from 5 years ago it would jump from page 10,000 to page 1 as you click on "post".

There is no bump button as such. Any time you reply in a thread you are bumping it to the top of the list by default. By saying it all you are doing is showing the intention of that post in the thread.

Some say it, others don't. Some people use images like:



Which you can find below the reply window. It doesn't achieve anything different to replying to a thread, just highlighting the intention.

Thank you. I have always been a softie. I cry whenever I see compassion. I don't know why, I just always have. So needless to say, I sat and cried through all of the photos! lol
I loved the man carrying the kittens across the flood. Oh and I loved the one of the man giving his shoes to the girl.
So much hate in this world. I love the little reminders of compassion.
