Germany got rid of their Nuclear Energy and can now run completely off Renewable Energy! What are we waiting for?

USA, unlike germany, have never voted against israel so have no fear of been attacked by the stuxnet virus and therefore no need to get rid of their nuclear energy.

You know, they could have used this trillion dollar stimulus bill to install enough solar power to generate all our needs.

Instead we got lots of overpaid construction workers digging holes and filling them back in, everywhere you go, they are shutting down the roads, and are busy doing nothing.

It's all about short sighted, selfish, hedonistic cliques of capitalists, whose motto is 'Fuck The World'.

There are very few people who love this country anymore.

We get all these political appointees, put in charge of government agencies, instead of visionaries and genuinely talented people. They are basically all just there to look the other way while corporate raiders rape the country.

Thing is they are taking a big risk here. My electricity bills went up every year since 2008. And so it is all over Germany. Personal I dont care to much about paying a few euros more but for other people here it has a bigger impact.

Anyway in the long run this could turn out to be a great investment.

Don't think for a second that electricity bills haven't gone up in the US every year since 2008 as well.

The only reason people aren't screaming about it is that we had no winter this year. When summer gets fully kicked in, wait and see how people respond when they see what using their AC has done to their electric bills!

There are no concrete plans being implemented yet, isnt that one of the reasons Norbert Röttgen got replaced - Merkel said Peter Altmaier would be better to get the job done.

And this from May 27th doesn´t give cause to believe anything is going to happen anytime soon - also because there will be tons of protest against any new power lines.

Common sense tells us that nuclear energy is dangerous.

You don't understand that? You haven't seen examples of how volatile it is? Fuku wasn't enough for you? What about Chernobyl? SL-1? Three mile island? What about Bohunice Nuclear Power Plant in Slovakia? They decided to decommission it in 1979, it will take until 2033 to finish it off. They had 30 shutdowns there. That's not dangerous? The Kyshtym disaster in the Soviet Union released 80 tons of highly radioactive material into the environment, they still don't know what impact it's had on the people in the area. You may want to play fast and loose with your life and your childrens, the rest of us don't.

Australia has no nuclear reactors, they seem to be doing fine. Why do you have such a boner for nuclear energy?

That is a small percent of what utility companies have got away with along the lines of contaminating and sickening people, Nuclear is not safe, i'm not condoning it's use, but people have been greatly effected by utility companies practices at their non-nuclear facilities in substantially higher numbers than say three mile island, or turkey point, or whatever. I'm sure you've seen the Movie Erin Brokovich, well, that shit happens all over California with a certain power provider near Fresno.

Germany was smart and don't create power and deliver it consumers using large-scale power plants

Instead a lot of the end consumers create power and buy any shortfall from the grid or sell excess to it. While we can do that here it is a novelty while the Krauts consider it the norm

Im more curious about the long term effects.

When in an ice age and having the white snow reflecting the light the planet wont hold enough heat.

IM more curious to know hte long term effects of having so many square miles of glass reflecting sunlight off the surface.

It may be negligible now but i assure you if the entire planet moved to solar, reflecting that much sunlight will have a negative effect on the planet.

There is a law in germany, when you build a new house, it must be a lowenergy house, means good isolation. Also every house owner gets money to build solar panels and photovoltaic panels.

Germany knows that oil and gas will run out sooner or later, so we need a plan b. We work on that sine 15 years.

New plan is to get about 2 mio Electro cars on the road till 2020. BMW, Volkswagen and Mercedes Benz are involved in the plan and will bring out new electro cars in the comin 2 years.

So you can drive your car with solar energy / Biomass / waterpower and so on in the future. No more gas station needed, for house owner.
