Wow, Sandi... that's really creepy. Anything for me? =D

So sorry that I missed you, LiT!

* * * *

You were born two hours ago and you aren't expected to survive the night. Your family is gathered around weeping. It was everything that you expected, though you didn't know it. You watch them through solemn, barely-focused eyes.

When you leave your body, you find yourself standing beside another soul.

"What will happen?" you ask.

"Look," he tells you.

You watch as time fast forwards and your mother mourns. You find your soul burdened with great sorrow.

"Wait and see," says the soul beside you.

Time moves quickly on and your mother and your father argue. Your father leaves and once more you are filled with regret.

"Watch," says the soul this time.

So you make yourself watch as your mother mourns more, but then to your surprise she begins to visit the hospital. There, she visits children as a volunteer for a while, working her day job and going in the evening after work.

Then she goes to college courses at night instead. You watch as the years go by and she becomes a nurse. She works with premature babies, caressing them and touching them and encouraging mothers to do the same for their babies.

You look at the soul beside you.

"You changed the entire course of her life," he says to you, and you look back to the progress of your mother's life. "And the course of the lives that depended upon her becoming a nurse."

You watch a while longer.

"Are you ready to go?" he asks.

You nod and he takes you Home.

Here you learned that your death was a gift, but you also learned that the death of a loved one can shatter a person. It's the choice of those left behind how they will use what they experience.

Hey Sandi

I know you have suffered a lot in this life, and it is beyond what most of us will ever know. But I am also wondering about your responses. I know as you said most are not looking for "tell me why I am so happy" but there is a balance. Not all growth comes from tragedy, in fact much if not more comes from joy. Joy is so much harder to hold onto in this world and to celebrate that and maybe show past lives that confirm that is also wonderful. as I said not sure what I think about the past life thing but do know we learn as much if not more from joy.

as much as crying can on some level feel as a cleanse nothing, but nothing beats laughter.

much love and laughter to you
