Write a great book, and sell it or get it published so that you can sell it online. If you try to publish it any other way, you're gonna need an agent.

If you have no imagination and cannot read, write ,or spell, then you are basically fucked. LOL!

Use your imagination. Most people don't write fiction becuase they have no idea what to do: it's basically telling a bunch of lies on paper. It's made up. Nowadays the pros want you to make sure you have your facts straight. It's fiction, dummies! Lies. You know, once uppon a time...Lol!
 Quoting: hawk8414

there are Kindle authors making 6 figure incomes. A 22 year old girl was the last one I read about. Wrote a zombie book.
then there is Kerry Wilkinson's Jessica Daniel detective novels which sold more than 250,000 copies on Kindle.

Remember Kindle royalties on books selling between $3 and $10 is 70%. Pretty sweet.

I need to rant here because this is fucking ridiculous

I just applied to work at petsmart online

I had to go through a grilling 75 or some odd questions about my personality

then i had to submit a resume that has the only two jobs ive worked in the last few years... both of which are out of business now.

On top of that i said im not receiving SNAP, food stamps even though I am. I don't fee like telling them that shit

WTF man how many goddamn loops do you have to jump through these days just to get a job that high-school kids can work?

I'm sure they will probably want some references since they can't get any past work ones.

Jesus fuck man at this rate i'll never find a job. I'm the guy that Walmart turned down.

To get anywhere these days it seems like you have to be your own boss

you open an account with kindle so they know where to send the money and upload your content. Format so it fits on a kindle page. Lots of help on web about how to.
Takes a day for them to review and make it live.
There are blogs where you can promote like Ezine.

always true. The man gets the most work out of you for the least pay you will work for. Its a mindset, people are economic slaves. When I was a youngster I repaired refrigerators and resold them. I got the fridges from the back yard of the appliance dealer. They usually take the old one away as a customer convenience and end up selling them as scrap. I would wander through and look at the liners and shelves and offer $10 to $35 depending on size and condition. I got an account with an appliance house and in a short time had the tools to do compressor replacements. Bought a pickup, got a lift gate installed and by then quit the job I hated as I was making more selling refurbs in the thrift paper. Working for the man requires lots less thought and action but the returns are limited too. A buddy of mine did well fixing washing machines. He didnt have a lift gate, just a dolley.

you have to make something that other people will want. if you want to be simple about it you have to make food and water and shelter. depending on your own creativity, you could do anything you wanted and perhaps exchange your channeled creativity for other goods or services. no one is gonna hand you a million dollar idea.

i say get out of the cities. go somewhere where you can grow food and filter water. that's two out of three basic human needs. all that is left is shelter, then start figuring out the septic system. communities are the easiest way to really build something, but the hardest to get everyone on the same page.

Re: Ideas thread for ways to survive without finding a real job.
I have done this for a little extra each month. havent in a while though.

I would pay for smallest storage unit in a nice fenced place.

At the end of the month when they cant afford the place they dump their stuff in the dumpsters. mostly nice stuff that can be sold on craigslist.

I kept the bulk though like bed plastic storage shelves household goods as I had nothing.

That said in an apartment building same thing at end of month usually someone has to move or being evicted. so usually everything goes.

If your lucky and have a truck this works well to take to storage unit.

I have not done this but it is workable.

Go to the animal control place and go through their trash. sometimes you can get some really nice kennels to sell. I would prob do this at night after they close. not sure if its illegal on taking the trash or not though.might check. usually they have tons of stuff they throw out from donations. which can be sold on craigs list etc.

another way to get stuff to sell would be from a free give away you have to find those online. they usually ask you to not sell it. but most do.

I was rather good at collecting cans from dumpsters. this is a good alternative and can feed you if you are persistant and dont mind three hours hard work a day. its last ditch effort but like said worth it. I made about ten a day. which fed me nice.
I made a can grabber from a old broom head and used a metal skewer for bbq's bent into hook and duct tape to end of stick. this is great for moving the bags.

offering on craigs list for odd jobs like mow lawns or moving trash or detailing cars is great too. or browse sometimes peeps need help moving and offer cash.
or sometimes trade. like for stuff you need like a new bike or a tent.

always look out for things that you know you can sell for higher price. romance books the thick ones new looking sell great at yard sales.
sometimes you can get those by the bag at flea markets for a few bucks for the bag and resell it.

jewelry if you can make it can sell but it takes a lot to invest. like buy beads and make things like boots for earings
or just make flag pins out of huge safety pins. most peeps will buy those. its simple cheap and patriotic.

check some stores will want peeps to put bar code stuff on small items like pens. they give you the boxes and you take it home to do. its work at home stuff.

some small restaurant places will accept work under the table stuff like waitressing or bussing or painting. not all but some will. same with small hotels. see if they need help they will contract you for the day and pay you then.

day labor places are hard as most who are totally unhireable like druggies or drunks work there. but be persistant and show up half hour before they open daily and they will start sending you out. you work good or have a car its a guarantee return. not great but its something.

I think that is it for me.

these stirling toys are a big hit especially at christmas.
Get $50 to $100 for some tin cans. Make them pretty.
The prettier the more easily they sell and higher price.

Re: Ideas thread for ways to survive without finding a real job.
This thread should be about finding a "real job" or not, but how to survive by doing something you love if what you love is not sitting in a corporate office or in a factory.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 7545255

This. Acting is a real job. Most actors aren't spoiled hollywood types and don't make enough to survive w/o supplemental income. Why so many actors are also waiters, etc.

The point is "real" jobs (corporate) are scarce.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 10783814

and if you have bad credit or even non-felony issues or any psychological problems then you probably won't get hired by "real" jobs.

Put some fliers on your neighborhood mailboxes offering to do jobs for the elderly and disabled. Pick up groceries, run to the post office, weed the garden, change oil in the car, fix their computer, whatever you can handle! You would be doIng them a great service that maybe it is difficult for them to do and you can negotiate prices however you like. You can go to bed feeling good about yourself too for helping those in need!

Hi, AC. I know, I applied at Lowe's and they turned me down. I only had one reference from a former job and I don't think I passed the personality test. I have severe depression, so I'm not as sure of myself as I was when I was younger. Still, I could have done the job. But honestly, AC, it's ok. I know exactly how you feel. It's fucking high school jobs, man. Plus, I'm not driving 50 miles to work because gas is just too expensive. Son of a bith, huh?

start a farm or garden, plant only what you need
start learning survival and hunting skills
learn how to build a shelter
teach others to do all this
learn a trade, follow your heart and start honing your craft
live off the land
abandon all artificial structures and ideals.
build communities based on trust and sharing and all the above
survive together in peace and harmony
no more oppression
no more money
when outsiders try to break your community "we" must band together and cut out their tongues!
If they gain any followers before we cut their tongues out of their heads, we must kill them all - the instigators AND the followers!
united we stand, divided we fall

just some thoughts
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 18388824

Hmmm...it's so crazy, it just might work!

Except that where two or three are gathered there will ALWAYS be disagreements.
I believe we would be better served, collectively, if we could all learn to battle our spiritual/emotional/intellectual conditioning and see EACH OTHER HUMAN BEING as exactly that - a fellow human being.

Banding together as disparate troupes is exactly what got us to where we are now - fighting other disparate troupes.

It IS a nice idea, tho - naively idyllic, but a nice dream.

I give spankings for a living as an adult disciplinarian. I do still work one day per week at my old job, but most of the money comes from doling out discipline.

It helps to be a sexy, severe looking female.

You have to be adaptable. Work with what you have. Do what you can do and offer it to the public. There is only one you. Find a way to sell your unique blend of skills and talents.

Cut your expenses to the bone.

Get rid of cable and use free WIFI.
Get rid of cell phone contracts and go with pre paid.

I saved $103 a month by shopping around for a better deal on an apartment.

Watch the electricity use. I turned down the temps in fridge and freezer. Air conditioner always on low when I need it. So far highest electric bill has been $18.57 a month. (no dishwasher here, don't need it)

Use this thread to help people who either can not or do not want to find a real job.

My contribution.
1. Go to a talent agent and get into acting, or if your acting sucks, try to get extra work. You usually get paid 50 bucks plus food /day.

Anyone else have ideas?

Fiverr.com

Don't offer any service or do any work for 5 bucks. Fiverr takes its share ($1) and Paypal as well (8 cents), so you're left with $3.92 for 1 gig.

Do you want to work for $3.92? Let the slaves work for these silly amounts.

There are good gigs out there that are worth much more than 5 bucks. The trick is to sell these gigs for 3, 4 or 5 times the regular price. ;)

Food for thought.
