Knowledgeable man schools rookie cop after being detained for open-carry.
Man lawfully carrying his side arm - an ignorant officer unlawfully detains him, requests ID.

Nicely done.
"God forbid we should ever be 20 years without such a rebellion. The people cannot be all, & always, well informed... If they remain quiet under such misconceptions it is a lethargy, the forerunner of death to the public liberty... Let them take arms... What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots & tyrants. " - Thomas Jefferson in 1787

love it!!!!!

But he was lucky he has a reasonable cop.. some cops are d-bag and could have given him a much harder time..

i guess it also has to do with the location of this incedent... here in south florida.. cops are MAJOR a-holes and abuse their authority more often then not..

I agree, well done. but this guy is going to be on the shit list. TSA/Homeland is embedded with local agencies. they wont make a priority of it, but the GPS of the guys cell phone and the cops' at that time of day + duration will be correlated.

I hope he has a good tax attorney.

in some States it is OK to carry a gun in the open
but a Statetrooper told me it is not wise
because people will call the cops and you will have
8 to 10 cops around you in no time and you could get shot
by a gung ho cop

The cop seemed very reasonable.

The citizen lost his cool. He could have walked away with alot less attitude. Refusing to give your first name is in my books disrespectful. Not just to a cop but to anyone.

Citizen would have done better to respectfuly let the cop know he was not a felon and given his identity. Instead he acted like he was a teenage rebel out to prove a point, pretty embarrising to watch from here.

very lucky he wasn't arrested for FAILING TO PROVIDE ID upon request

most LEO would have arrested him and left it to the courts to sort out

i wouldn't suggest anyone trying this unless they're up for the challenge

Legal rights to carry should be upheld and not infringed upon. The carrier was not being a dick. The police should help defend our rights, not antagonize us when we use them. And you from Spain, keep your comments to your own country. We'll take care of our backyard, you do the same.

So now this guy is a hero?

If he was walking with a gun near a elementary school and your kid goes there would you be as happy?

This guy is a provocative deucebag for carrying his firearm in the open.
The cop did the right thing by checking out what that guy was doing out there with a gun in plain sight and have a little chat.

Think about this guy if you are ever going to be so unlucky to stand on the wrong side of the barrel!

The guy walking down the street with a sidearm in a holster IN PLAIN VIEW is more likely to save your sorry ass from a real criminal than hurt you in any way.

i thought that was good, only thing i was wondering was, maybe the cop simply wanted to verify he had a valid open carry permit?

That.

Cops have learned to abuse their power. I'm not saying they are not needed, but they cannot legally harass law abiding citizens.

He committed no crime, he should have never been detained. The whiney fucking assholes that called in and reported him should have been told over the phone it's not illegal for somebody to open carry so hang up and drive.
