Tomatoes are small, but green still. Going to get a huge crop of blackberries. Everything seems to be growing better than average this year.

I have 4 cherry tomato plants and 4 beefsteaks. All of them are doing much better than last year and it looks like we will be drowning in tomatos soon enough. The rest of my garden is also doing much better than expected. Potatos, cauliflower, brussels sprouts, peppers, lettuce and swiss chard are growing like crazy. The only thing not doing so well are my cucumbers for some strange reason.
Happy gardening!!

I'm on the East coast, where the radiation is bit "watered down". But maybe that's why they're big and abundant.

My broccoli were huge this year and it's all in the freezer now. Same with the squash. Tomatoes are still green and no green beans or peppers yet. Hope and pray it's a good harvest!hayseed

We have a metric shitton of tomatoes this year. Just made 15 pounds of pico de gallo and getting ready to do some canning with home-made salsa. It's been a good year for tomatoes.

If there were less radioactivity, the crops would be more normal sized.

You should see the size of the things coming out of Japanese farms since Fukushima. Been all over their news (they have English versions of all their major papers).

Garden did well even though we were about a month late getting started. We will be making sauce this weekend. I'm really looking forward to the watermelons.

haha, here in Colorado we are just putting our plants outside this month ... so we have a ways to go, but everything is comming up quite well ... better than expected - with all the wind we are having and late hail storms

the peas were a total failure, and the beans and corn didn't come up (yet?) , potatoes are all up - sweet potatoes are slow but budding at last -
... cukes doing great, as well as squash, beets and carrots ... two water mellons and one cantelope plants - hanging in there for dear life ...spinach was a bust too, but got tons of strawberries, herbs and onions and a couple of brussel sprouts and egg plants. had to buy peppers ...

you are right about the tomatoes though ... I planted a bunch of seeds - cause they never come up, and they all came up this year, so thinking that they would never make it, I planted all of them (early) - and they all lived ... and now have 16 "big cherry" and 3 king sized Beef Steak ... but I am sure my neighbors will help me eat all LOL - and will have a bunch of squash (yellow, acorn and zucchini) to give away too ...

I have a green house too, just incase the season is too short, I grow my salad garden in there and keep lights on in the fall to keep them producing ... no room for the big plants but I grow lettus, onions, cukes, beets and carrots indoors, along with a few tomatos , a pepper or two, in big tubs and of course, the herbs

I'll do better next year, this is my first garden in this location, so this year I am just finding out what grows ... and when to plant my seeds for optimal growing season ... taking notes - don't know what's with the peas and beans this year, planted them both twice and got NADA - same with the cabbage - obviously some plants like radiation, but some don't.

Re: HOW DOES YOUR GARDEN GROW??? My tomatoes are huuuge!
second year perennial garden with tomatoes. Still lots of empty space but doing well for the second year. Edible purslane is running wild, going to start taking it home and eating it. It took some hunting to find the tomato varieties I enjoy the most, which are "sun gold" "sun sugar" and "black cherry" .. the black cherry were only found at one location and only in larger, expensive plants.

Tomatoes budding nicely here with three little green ones already. Been rather dry lately. But I remember potatoes and cabbage being horribly large in Russia, the year Chernobyl blew. Nothing fancy like that now. Need to plant some flowers showing ground composition/acidity and toxin/radiation levels. Any suggestions? (Preferably by Latin taxonomy names.)

I'm wanting to get started on a garden this fall. We don't have a lot of space, but it would be really cool to use it in this way. We are welcoming our second child soon, so every bit of clean, cheap food we can get will be a big help. Kudos to the gardeners out there!
