The best breed chicken for the zombie apocalypse

Never heard of this breed. I was going to order a different breed, but theses look interesting.

I don't have a free range flock yet and Welsummer look like a good breed to let roam the property.

Was just talking about this subject last night!

Love those dark,dark brown eggs

And they are very pretty too. Golden-tan feathers edged with black.

My neighbor says that the best "chicker-moms" are the banties, although their eggs would be much smaller (just use 2 when the recipe calls for 1). You might be able to put other breeds' eggs under them and they'd hatch them out and raise them for you. Seems to me that they would also be good to have, most "marauders" wouldn't bother with them because they are so small, by the time you de-feathered and gutted them they'd look like those little Cornish game hens.

For the mid-west barred rocks are a good self-sustaining bird, they will roost in the trees at night if they miss roll call for the safe house lol, and tolerate the hot and cold well. Very smart birds as chickens go...
