I also wanted to share this link of volunteers who worked to get the wolves out of the sanctuary due to the high park fire. They risked their lives and was able to get all of the wolves out. [link to www.wolfsanctuary.net]

Though this is such a terrible tragedy our heroes are really shining bright with all they are doing for our community and animals!

New evacuations are now being put in place.

It sounds like Woodland Park is evacuating now according to the mayor.

1. The remainder of the City of Woodland Park city limits that have not been previously evacuated.
2. All areas East of CR25 (a.k.a. Tranquil Acres Road and Mocks) to Blossom Road, including the subdivision of Tranquil Acres, North to the intersection of Forest Service Roads 357 and 357b, North on FSR 357 to CR 78 (a.k.a. Painted Rocks Road), North to the Douglas County Line.

Significant wildfire activity continues in Colorado where thousands of residents have been evacuated as strong winds caused the fires to burn actively. Large fires in Utah and Montana have also caused the evacuation of several communities. Eleven new large fires were reported yesterday, three in Montana, two in Wyoming, and one each in Alaska, Colorado, Nevada, South Dakota, Tennessee and Utah.

Weather: Gusty winds and low relative humidity will produce critical fire conditions across parts of Wyoming and northwestern Colorado. Lingering moisture under a building ridge over the Southwest will fuel widely scattered thunderstorms across the Colorado and New Mexico mountains. Hot and dry conditions will continue across much of the desert Southwest while mild weather remains another day across the Northwest and northern Rockies. High pressure over the eastern U.S. will keep warm and dry weather across the region. Tropical Storm Debby will move across northern Florida and weaken. In Alaska, scattered showers will increase across the South while isolated thunderstorms develop in the eastern and central Interior.

I have noticed too. Been thinking quite a bit about it actually. I am at a loss for words honestly. I guess I just don't want to believe how it could "tie in".

GREAT NEWS!!!

It seems someone finally manage to get through and inform the White House about current circumstances in Colorado Springs and statewide. It's being reported on local MSN that the chief executive will be arriving in territory on Friday of this week! Soo happy that he could manage to fit in some local face time, what with having more important things to do like cracking jokes on national TV all this past week. I do hope he has the chance to visit some of our wondrous golf courses and get in some green time! All is well now.

"6:19 p.m. A firefighter told reporter Ryan Maye Handy today that during a briefing, crews learned that 200 to 300 homes have been lost. He said it was difficult to be accurate about the number, since the decimation is so complete that you can't even make out addresses."
