This is directly from the Tesla website: "The Tesla Supercharger recharges Model S quickly. Super quickly. Superchargers are not for everyday use, but for refueling quickly on road trips. A Supercharger can charge about half the battery in 30 minutes. All Model S vehicles with the 85 kWh battery can use Superchargers as can properly equipped 60 kWh battery vehicles. Superchargers will be positioned at convenient locations along major interstates throughout the country."
In other words, you can use a supercharger but only in emergencies. If you use it too often, it will ruin the battery. Just another gimmick. Not only that but there aren't any superchargers along the freeways. They have yet to be installed. Good luck with all that.
Quoting: Anonymous Coward 18383900 There are four EV chargers slated to be installed in the town I live in. I am not sure if they are "Super" chargers or not (If that makes a difference). Quoting: RedwoodPerch The website say that the superchargers will be placed along the freeways. So I would not think that the chargers going in your town are superchargers. Anyhow, expect to see many frustrated Tesla owners stuck on the side of the road while waiting for either a tow or a charge. Who the fuck wants to wait 30 minutes for a charge regardless of how far the charge takes you. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 18383900 3 of the chargers would be within a couple blocks of a freeway. I am not sure if you're implying that they are going to be at rest stops or just within a short distance of a freeway.
