July 6 to July 28 : 17 Tammuz to Tisha B'Av (9 Av) - Will Israel, Syria, Turkey, Egypt or Iran start a war during this period ?
As things seem to be heating up in the Middle East (Turkish military jet shot down by Syria, killings again in Gaza, probable Egyptian riots once the name of the president is officially proclaimed, Iran oil embargo on July 1st, etc), let's remember July will be a special time of remembrance for Jewish people, especially in Jerusalem : from the evening of July 6 (beginning of 17 of Tammuz fast) up to July 28 (9 of Av or Tisha B'Av). This time is to commemorate all sorts of calamities for Israel (destruction of the Temple, etc). Will Israel, Syria, Hezbollah or Iran start the war during these three weeks leading to the London Olympics opening ceremony (July 27) ?

According to the Mishnah (Taanit 4:6), five specific events occurred on the ninth of Av that warrant fasting:

1. The twelve spies sent by Moses to observe the land of Canaan returned from their mission. Only two of the spies, Joshua and Caleb, brought a positive report, while the others spoke disparagingly about the land. The majority report caused the Children of Israel to cry, panic and despair of ever entering the "Promised Land". For this, they were punished by God that their generation would not enter the land. Because of the Israelites' lack of faith, God decreed that for all generations this date would become one of crying and misfortune for their descendants. (See Numbers Ch. 13–14)
2. The First Temple built by King Solomon and the Kingdom of Judah was destroyed by the Babylonians led by Nebuchadnezzar in 586 BCE (3175 AM) after the siege in 587 and the Judaeans were sent into the Babylonian exile.
3. The Second Temple built by Ezra and Nehemiah was destroyed by the Romans in August 70 CE (3830 AM), scattering the people of Judea and commencing the Jewish exile from the Holy Land. According to the Talmud in tractate Ta'anit, the destruction of the Second Temple began on the Ninth of Av and the Temple continued to burn throughout the Tenth of Av.
4. The Romans crushed Bar Kokhba's revolt and destroyed the city of Betar, killing over 100,000 jewish people, on July 8, 132 CE (Av 9, 3892 AM).[4]
5. Following the Bar Kokhba revolt, Roman commander Turnus Rufus plowed the site of the Temple and the surrounding area, in 133 CE.[5]

Plus the last Israeli war was in July 2006 :

The 2006 Lebanon War, also called the 2006 Israel–Hezbollah War and known in Lebanon as the July War[34] (Arabic: حرب تموز‎, Ḥarb Tammūz) and in Israel as the Second Lebanon War (Hebrew: מלחמת לבנון השנייה‎, Milhemet Levanon HaShniya),[35] was a 34-day military conflict in Lebanon, northern Israel and the Golan Heights.

Beginning of conflict :

At around 9 AM local time on 12 July 2006, Hezbollah launched diversionary rocket attacks toward Israeli military positions near the coast and near the border village of Zar'it[66] as well as on the Israeli town of Shlomi and other villages.[67] Five civilians were injured.[68] Six Israeli military positions were fired on, and the surveillance cameras knocked out.[69

not a good time for us in general, throughout history. if we are the ones starting anything, this is not the time to do it. if they are, perhaps they know this. sad to say but i think you might be right. there is a teaching that in the future times these will be turn from 3 weeks of mourning to 3 weeks of celebration - may it be so sooner than we know it

One Christian fellow on five doves notes that July 7th is the seventh anniversary of London bombing 777 (7/7/2005). Crowley's 777 anyone ? is 777 a special number for the Ordo Templi Orientis or for the jesuits ?
