Rand's thinking is a perfect example of why libertarianism is not the panacea some might think it to be.

The labeling requirement gives every customer free choice to use the information in their buying decision or they can choose to ignore it.

If I'm not mistaken there is a law or a regulation (FDA?) that makes it illegal for companies to say their products are GMO free.

It's an attack on freedom of speech and a restraint on trade.

Libertarians want to know if their food is GMO so they can decide if they want to buy it or not.

As a libertarian you would know that you're free to do as you please as long as you are not harming others. GMO's are harming many people. You also have the right to fight for liberty, and someone who breaks that contract(harming others) can expect retaliation. This is in no way a type of threat, it's just the way things would work (naturally) if everyone had these values.

And thats a good thing. Look what the government does already with all the power and money it steals from the tax pairs. All those guns smuggled to Mexico that killed 200 mexicans and one american were bought by the tax payers money. Obama or Holder would not have done this if their personal money was involved. If its not labeled, ask the manufecturer. If he doesnt tell you whats in it, dont buy it. They'll get the message. But dont give the government the right to force independent corporations to do something you'll regret later. Government is NOT the solution to everything, its the problem.

Yet the very same GMO producing companies have infiltrated the government and are receiving farm subsidies. Farm subsidies do not actually come from the government as the government has no money of its own. That money comes from tax payers. If tax payers want companies to label their products that is what should be done versus subsidizing their frankenfood.

No. Tax payers dont fund the corporations. The moment a tax payer has paid his taxes he has no right over that money or where that money goes or what would be done with it. If he wants something different done with it, he must change his government, or make his government create some different laws and force the government to not lend money to corporations he doesnt like.

But the corporations owe NOTHING to the tax payers. Which is why they can run their business however they want and they are in business to make a profit for the owners or the shareholders. They owe the public nothing. You cant expect them to be moral or ethical for you. Just like you cant expect your neighbor to be moral or ethical for your sake. Why? Cause the neighbor doesnt owe his existence to you.

Same rule applies to corporations. If you dont like their product, dont buy it. They'll get the message. If you want them gone, start a petition, call your mayor, call the newspapers, make some noise, start a website, do something, anything but you cant force them to do what you like or not. Because they dont exist for you. They exist for their own sake, for their own goals and owe nobody nothing.

Then dont buy it. If its not labeled and you have your suspicions, dont buy it. Thats the whole point. Nobody is holding a gun to your head. You just wana have you cake and eat it too. Now thats whats really dumb.

The tax payer has a right to say where his money goes. In the United States it is supposed to be government of the PEOPLE, for the PEOPLE and by the PEOPLE. The problem with the government here in the United States is that it has been taken over by corporations. Look at the Venn Diagrams on GEKE and you will see this. When corporations are getting TAX PAYER subsidies they do owe the tax payer. The politicians should be doing what the people elect them to do and what the people want them to do, but often times they are too busy sucking corporate dick.
