It occurred to me that HIPPIES were too much of a joke all of a sudden and the laughs were kind of fake. The Establishment? the man? i love hippies absolutely because i was born in the 6os just barely, in sixty nine. even though i am not truly a hippie there is something of that period in my make up and when the jokes becasme about hating and ridicyuling hip-pies i never really bought in. but now i can see why? wow pretty prave. you wantto make love outside and be free with who you relate with. the people who saw this asa threat were WHO again? a threat to WHAT again? in the sixties there must have been a lot of antihippie paranoia. i have only really read about bra burnings. what does a feminist in 77 with abra and a palestinian in 05 with an american flag have to do, one with the other? an amareican flag and an underwire cross your heart from 1974 that leaves marks and bbasically ddoesn't fit too well... i can't make the whole connection yet but the status of women as second class... |
