INDEED, more and more research suggests sun protection accelerates skin cancer. Anyway, the kids should have had adequate protection which is where the teachers obviously failed.

couple a fat free diet with sun screen / cream and you have no vitamin d!

eveyone knows your lifespan is defined by the decay rate of your cells.

no vit d3 = increase in bacteria / fungal (most importantly) / viral damage = shorter life.

Stupid peoples don't even know that suncream is a poison. All those chemical entering your body by the skin. No wonder they have more skin cancer. Cream your body idiot.

Well, I don't think people use suncream on a daily basis, so I don't see a problem here. But in the case of these children, the sunburn is much more harmfull imo.

Its the parent's responsibility to apply sunscreen. If the teachers did, and the kids were allergic to it, the teacher would get sued, as well as the school, the Board of Education, fellow classmates, assorted wildlife, and anyone/thing else that could be dragged into the fray.

i am 58, living in Mexico 6 months a years during the winter. living under the sun and never wear suncream. Don't trust that. Publicity about, the sun is bad for you, is just an other way to sell suncream. man has live 10,000 years without suncream so why do we need that now???? Money, money for big pharma and friends.

Also, taking vitamin D at the right dosage round year actually protect you from a bad sunburn. You just simply tan more quickly. That's what everybody who had been taking vitamin D supplement noticed by accident.

if you live under the sun and you eat and drink properly sun wont demage you much


but if you get out rarely, or just switch from 5 months inside in wintertime to a whole day of sun ....that will damage you for sure

sun screens are almost all shit but a a severe burn give you a ticket for future skin cancer

we never used sun tan lotion or sun screen either, the next generation, my younger (10yr) brothers started using that regular.

it was somthing to do with media campaings that caused people to use it, they were saying you would get skin cancer if you didnt.

and i can guarantee you if the media is saying something, the exact opposite is true.

The article is talking about albino children during a desert field trip. I don't think blanket policies of "sun screen is bad for everyone" apply in this case.

The fact that the teacher was there and could SEE those variables and yet still insisted on endangering those particular children with a blanket policy is just...no hope for the human race.

I grew up at the swimming pool and for 5 hours a day all summer we swam,played, layed in the sun. If we got too hot we went under the trees for a little shade.

Never used sunscreen. But we did use baby oil and iodine for a suntan.

There is more incidence of skin cancer today and yet people spend less time outside and when they do they slather on toxic chemicals that blocks the living giving rays of the sun.

Wear a hat. Avoid the strongest hours, and wear long sleeves--parents should have been notified in advance and preparations made, the child should have had an umbrella, so many simple solutions, the teacher should have been fired to have done nothing.

How easy is it today to send e-mails, texts, and call home. If parents were notified they could make arrangements--even keeping their children home from school that day.

Yes, schools can't even give aspirin.....

And, I'm not a big believer in sun screen--but common sense can keep people from serious burns.

i wonder what the suns radiation does to these chemicals when they are on the skin..
