Breaking - Turkish sources: NATO strike against Syria ruled out; Syria will be warned that another hostile action "will not go unpunished"
Turkey not to invoke Art. 5, NATO war in Syria as unlikely as ever

NATO is likely to strongly condemn Syria for shooting down a Turkish reconnaissance jet and declare solidarity with Turkey, and may even send a message to Damascus that repetition of such a hostile action will not go unpunished, when it meets on Tuesday.

But the alliance is as reluctant as ever to pledge military action against Turkey's troubled neighbor, and Ankara, conscious of obstacles, is not in the mood to push for such a commitment either.

Turkey called for emergency talks under Article 4 of NATO's founding treaty after its F4 Phantom jet was shot down by Syria on Friday. The meeting has raised the possibility that Ankara may seek NATO intervention by invoking Article 5, the collective defense clause, although Turkish officials have not raised Article 5 as an option.

Ankara is not expected to seek to invoke Article 5 when the NATO envoys meet on Tuesday, because, observers say, without pre-existing consensus within NATO on embarking on a Syria mission, any initiative by Turkey to invoke the collective defense article would be detrimental to both itself and NATO, as this would expose rifts within the alliance and undermine the message of solidarity intended to be conveyed to Damascus.

Based on what's been posted in other threads, this will piss off some of the Turkish military.

I wouldn't entirely rule out Turkey taking some very limited action on their own, but it seems doubtful.

Assad now knows he can do what he likes.

This is observers saying..Not a single ONE was a qoute from official sources...and I am pretty sure they will make No-Fly zone in Syria near turkish border and possibly buffer zones inside syria...I don't think full Article 5 NATO intervention but No-fly zone and buffer zones is highly possible!!

I hope this is true but i would recommend to take it with a grain of salt since there's a propaganda war and psy-op going on from all the parties included i.e. Turkey, Syria, NATO, MSM. And there are lots of misinformation everywhere.

But if this is true it also means that Turkey won't do this by itself aka doing Obama's and Hillary's dirty work.

ZERO DOOM
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 18562757

... until a Turkish tank wanders across the border, completely by accident of course, as its compass was simply pointing the wrong way, and gets ambushed by an evil Syrian anti-tank mine that was intentionally placed there to lure Turkish tanks.

The fact that the mine was painted screaming pink, and was visible from a mile away, only caused the tank crew to become completely hypnotized by this utterly unnatural and mesmerizing sight, thus causing them to feel an irresistible desire to run over it.

That proves beyond shadow of a doubt how incredibly devious Syrians really are! Painting anti-tank mines pink? Only Islamic religious fanatics (cue: Iranians) could ever think of such devilish unnaturalness!
[end of sarcasm]

There are scores of scenarios that can be used to repeat any kind of hostile action one would ever want to repeat.

Here's another example...

Some of those surface-to-air missiles, that CIA was so nice to provide to the Syrian "rebels", could end up flying in a wrong direction, and blow up, let's say, a Turkish helicopter just across the border. Preferably a medical helicopter, with a big Red Cross (Red Crescent just won't do the trick) sign all over its side. And since the missile came from Syrian territory, that was obviously yet another Syrian hostile action.

Ergo, an official statement could come out as something like this:

"N.A.T.O. treaty takes precedence over U.N. Security Council, thus nullifying the need for the U.N.S.C. approval of humanitarian actions against rogue regimes with known history of crimes against civilian populations".

Mix, rephrase, and shove it down the major news' throats. Those cesspools of information will truly swallow any kind of shit their masters feed them. I see it every day on our national TV.

All options on table, including right to retaliation

The Turkish government said that all options against Syria were on the table, including the right to military retaliation, also vowing to keep its rights stemming from international law reserved.
