Preparation is now under way,” Japan’s nuclear crisis minister, Goshi Hosono, told Reuters in an interview. [...] Tokyo Electric Power Co (Tepco) [...] had said in April it aimed to begin removing the fuel rods from the No. 4 reactor at the end of next year. [...] Tepco says its analysis shows the No.4 reactor building would hold up in a strong earthquake. But Japanese safety regulators ordered Tepco to recheck its findings last month after measurements showed one of the walls of the reactor building was buckling out by about 3 centimetres (1.2 inches). Quoting: ellen 18358561 I thought if no. 4 went down filled with all those spent fuel rods, it would be probablematic for everyone. Is this cam for real of is it some type of hoax? Or have I been worrying all this time about nothing! No, you haven't been worrying for nothing. They're trying to take down dangerous pieces so they don't fall down, into the spent fuel pool. The whole building is leaning, anything they can remove that isn't a major weight bearing piece reduces the chance of the SFP coming into serious danger and that catastrophe we are all worried about. They have been dismantling what they can, piece by piece, or at least 6 months. |

One wrong move and...yeah. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 5273293 But, if they don't take this apart, the ongoing earthquakes WILL. This is an effort to stop what would otherwise be an inevitable disaster. but according to GLP no ones working there? the 4 continuous meltdowns are too dangerous. Is this just a hoax to make conspiracy theorists think things are happening? |
