All Assad has to do then is make sure that doesn't happen and he can do what he likes.

True. I don't think Assad will be stupid enough to test Turkey on this though. It's like N.Korea, he'll push just far enough to wind people up, but not far enough to make them snap.

Assad knows diplomacy games and psychologic warfare very well, better than Erdogan that's for sure.
Has anyone noticed, until now Syria's only official statement was given by Foreign Ministry spokesman level whereas Turkey's , NATO's and UN's by top levels.

Yeah, that's interesting. I think by doing that he's trying to put across the idea that this isn't important.
