I have not once encountered the word bunker, used as the opposite of debunker, and I have been here two years.

Debunker, yes. Performs critical thinking and analysis on the argument of questionable post, to render logical inconsistancies apparent.

When I first arrived, I found it to be helpful to know the nature of posters on message boards. Some only start fights (trolls), some are paid to tell one side, they are called (paid) disinfo artists.

I see GLP is still logging us out when we try to make a meaningful, well researched and composed, spellchecked post. I mean, if I can't cant come up with e=mc2 or some nugget for mass comsumption within 4 minutes then I must be a peice of garbage, log me out! I'm a waste of GLPs time! "Give us lies instead!" GLP seems to be suggesting to me, "they're quicker to produce, and generate more ad traffic".

And while were at it, why are we still sent to the forum thread list when we click to 'post'? GLP you are just slowing down your own servers and increasing your bandwidth fees, as well as confusing and annoying your posters.

the root of "debunker" is not "bunker" as in a shelter, but rather "bunk" the slang version. "bunk" defined as BS, hokum, horse hockey, something false.


so if someone makes an argument that is "bunk" then someone else comes along to point out the falacies in the original argument .... he/she has "de-bunked" the original argument.

In our current world, skeptics are people who weigh all of the facts with a critical eye...and 'skeptic' is probably what many debunkers would like to be if they could open their minds. Debunkers in actual usage are just close minded people who refuse to look at facts and who then attack on an ad hominem basis any who would attempt to add facts to their minimal knowledge base.

Actually, GLP is the only place where "debunker" is used in this manner. The woo-woos have just gotten into the habit of using the word "debunker" incorrectly, and as is typical they refuse to admit that they are wrong even when confronted with facts to the contrary. (In this case, any dictionary.)

And BTW, it should be "closed-minded", not "close minded", but I'm sure you will find a way to convince yourself that you are correct.
