What people either don't understand or are intentionally ignoring is that Iran does not need a navy in order to shut down the straight. Launch some sunburns at tankers passing through the straight and sink them, that would greatly hamper shipping through there. The Russians gave Iran the S-400 anti aircraft defense systems along with sunburns while at the same time claiming a delay in shipment. The west has no answer for these anti-ship missiles, They fly under radar height and are supersonic. They are designed to sink warships quickly. What good is our navy if it's sitting at the bottom of the Persian Gulf?

The SeaRAM Anti-Ship Missile Defense System provides the highest level of ship self-defense with extended keep-out range capability.

The SeaRAM Anti-Ship Missile Defense System is a spiral development of key attributes of the Phalanx Close-In Weapon System and the Rolling Airframe Missile (RAM) Guided Weapon System. SeaRAM is designed to extend the inner layer battlespace and enable the ship to effectively engage multiple high-performance, supersonic and subsonic threats.

Smokin' fast! So, given the 'actual limitations' presented by merely 'conventional weaponries' - both sides being damn faster than not too long ago, I'd venture a guess that U.S. is gonna be sendin' in a new type of 'airborne weapon delivery' to shutdown the 'entire Iran infrastructure'. Iran has been plagued with very-very recent earthquakes and problems associated therewith in 'highly specific geographic mountainous locations', which smells of perhaps, some U.S. HARP ( not "HAARP" ) refinement as precursors already effectuated inside Iran. I would venture a global news leak distraction - coming via no-less "Twitter" - about a new 'elongated black triangle' buzzing Iran as a U.S. offense pre-emptive strikecraft we'll be hearing rumored 'sightings' about coming from sea-based U.S. Navy personnel aboard ships stationed.in Basora Fretum ( Strait of Hormuz ) in the not too distant future. Don't.be surprised at claims of UFO sightings in Iran neighborhood region. <smile>

Russia has scientists and soldiers at the nuclear sites, defense sites and missile sites, if they get hit then it means Russians are dieing, not Iranians. Iran is Russia's backyard, literally and figuratively. The whole "sale" of weapons was a dog and pony show to make it appear Iran was buying advanced technology when in truth Russia was and is entrenching it's weapons and such to be ready for any move on Iran. As for the Sea-RAM and Phalanx systems, they have never been tested in live fire, battle situations. Only tests, drills and demonstrations. However anti-ship missiles have been used with success in live fire battles in the past, look up the Exocet. That technology has come a long way since that happened. There's a reason why I say an attack on Iran is an attack on Russia, that's because Russia OWNS IRAN, it is part of their empire and unlike Libya, they will not release their grasp on Iran and it's vast natural resources. Never mind the fact that by giving up Iran, they would be completely surrounded by the U.S. and NATO.

Re: BRKNG: Iran to Shut Hormuz! Army Attack Helicopters staging on Navy Ships. GCC Air Forces go on High Alert!!
Islamic Revolution Guard Corps Navy ( IRGC ) prepared to fight their modern-day asymetric submarine war on any large naval force so, sinking 8 U.S. anti-minesweepers and another 4 British minesweepers may spike the first mini-nuke ( W-88 ) strike to send a message to neighboring member Arab nations that Saudia Arabia was serious about telling Iran to not persue a lofty post in OPEC.

With Saudis backing U.S. war-games in the region and Saudi disgust over current Iran leadership, me-thinks the U.S. will see a significant military response to Iran having now floated their new high-technology submarines out in the strait.

Obama has likely given the 'green light' and is just dying to use that new microphone of his to alert the American people Iran was just pre-emptively struck with a nuclear bomb - in the interests of U.S. national security ( of course ).

"Iran has begun building a copy of the US surveillance drone it captured last year, after breaking its encryption codes, Iranian officials say.

"The Americans should be aware to what extent we have infiltrated the plane," General Amir Ali Hajizadeh, military aerospace chief said.

The RQ-170 Sentinel was shown on Iranian state television last December.

Tehran says it was brought down using electronic warfare; Washington says it malfunctioned.

US Senator Joe Lieberman dismissed the claim that a copy was being made as "Iranian bluster" saying, "they're on the defensive because of our economic sanctions against them".

But Gen Hajizadeh said: "Our experts have full understanding of its components and programmes." "

Yes, I would agree with you with 'this' ( below ) unusually lengthy report bolstering even-more your post mentioning Russia "owning" Iran in-keeping with their international joint banking relationship since
the 1800s, however that may have gone astray what-with Iran's new currency.that Russia could not see to sanctioning since it was flung-out in hurried anticipation of Iran's belief it would rise to a top OPEC level position. Perhaps, GAZPROM was upset?

[link to www.indymedia.org.uk]

The above report ( linked immediately above ) heightens the pre-emptive nuclear strike position of.the United States since Russia secretly gave Iran its mobile missile ( like the U.S. MX missile system - train rail system underground CONUS ).

When it comes to the international commodities trading market with 'oil', all bets are off when it comes to Iran because Russia could have easily already cut a deal with the POTUS to setup Iran into believing it had Russia's support.

I would not be surprised if Russia on-site advisors in Iran already left Iran. Can we check?

i believe the only so-called "malfunction" with the Sentinel ( over Iran ) was that some stupid WAF on her control panel station at Muroc Air Field in southern California dropped her chewing gum on her joystick when she received a Tweet from her boyfriend - sending the poor Sentinel out-of usual control and into a surveillance position rendering the UAV blindsided by an Iran-fired missile. Plain and simple, I find it amusing - to say the least.- how shortly afterward another Sentinel was hurriedly transported in plain sight of the public at night in College Park, Maryland ( Washington, D.C. Metro area ) so-as to ship 'that' Sentinel out-of Andrews Air Force Base ( AFB ), Virginia. Which begs the question:

"What surveillance mission was so incredibly important inside Iran for the U.S. to risk such domestic mainstream news exposure?"

then again, knowing the CIA mentality, perhaps Agency 'thought' Iran 'would recover' from the Sentinel, a 'certain something' ( widget ) that would make Iran defense 'rethink its planned waterway defense strategy' in such a way that would permit British interests ( CIA always passing defense technology counter-countermeasures to the Brits ) then levying a special type of disarming maneuver on Iran before the Brits call in U.S. assistance to finish-off Iran.

We don't usually make shoot-down overflight mistakes, and that 'includes' the Francis Gary Powers U-2 DragonLady incident over territorial Russia decades ago when Captain Powers clevely was captured with his CIA built High Standard bull-barrel .22 caliber semi-automatic pistol, the result of which became an international embarrassment for the Soviets during their demonstration of test firing it exclaiming how the U.S. built silenced handguns that didn't silence the report of the weapon but only made it louder. There were other things that Powers cleverly planted on the Soviets that actually served in the best interests of U.S. national security for future decades.

Iran shut down all its oil refineries on June 30, 2012. A contact call-back from Tehran at 3:30 a.m. ( PST ) on July 1, 2012 confirmed this fact, however on June 29, 2012 Iran had not yet shut down its refineries as the Iran Oil Ministry had then-claimed - and as I had earlier reported here on Godlike Productions ( GLP ). My apologies to this forum for being early with my report, that Iran had shutdown all its oil field refineries, however my earlier reported 'shut-down duration' of such for "maintenance" - according to Iran's Ministry of Oil appears currently in effect.

There is another related new development, however pertaining to the fact that Iran oil contract to supply North Korea - using an Iran positioned oil tanker in the Al Qatif Sea ( Persian Gulf ) will very soon become the subject of global confrontational controversy in so far as whether it is allowed to proceed through Basora Fretum ( Strait of Hormuz ) on schedule.

Again, my apologies.

why would they shut down ALL their refineries. surely they want to keep on earning what revenue they can. at the very least they have the domestic market to refine for.
