WOW!!! # Law Student Puts Cop In His Place After Being Unlawfully Stopped For Carrying A Gun In Maine (Video)

In Maine (I live here) it is illegal to conceal carry without a concealed firearm permit, it is perfectly legal however to open carry. He did have the gun holstered. It is also not the law to provide id because there is no law requiring you to carry id in the USA. He was not driving a vehicle and open carrying being legal does not require id either. I have a concealed firearm permit in Maine and because of this I am required to conceal when legally possible where I am.

Pretty soon knowing your right will be a felon...

I would not feel comfortable with a guy shooting a gun at people walking down the street!

I think it's sad that cops have so abused their authority and so over-stepped their positions of trust that more and more people are unwilling to cut them ANY slack. The police have brought all the disgust many have for them on themselves.

Still (unless the law student was trying to be a YouTube Star -- which I think he clearly was) it would have been so much easier to just show his carry permit. But then he wouldn't have a video titled "Putting A Cop In His Place."

And before anybody cheers . . . what is the cop's place? Is he to sit in his car eating donuts unless he sees some crime committed? If it's 12:30 a.m. and he drives by your house and sees someone in your yard -- but just keeps driving -- because he has no PROOF a crime was committed wouldn't you scream the loudest if that guy had broken in and stolen YOUR stuff. How is the cop supposed to know the guy didn't belong there unless he stops him and asks?!

To me this video is a lose-lose situation.

Conversation was polite yet firm. The government and the media make it seem like carrying a gun is taboo, but that is a cornerstone of our constitution and bill of rights. Oh wait...wait..right..you don't have that...you live in China.

I for one have no issue with open carry as long as it is licenced. I really don't understand those who push non licenced open carry there is nothing wrong with doing a background check on someone and have them carry an open carry badge on them to make sure he is a responsible gun owner

2 stars because this kid is a bigger asshole than this cop could hope of being. If this kid saw someone walking down the street with a gun I guarantee he would call the cops to be sure that the man had a licence to carry it. Cop didn't harass him one bit, just wanted to be sure he was legally carrying his gun and this dude acts all whiny about it. Grow up...

FAIL... Try reading some case-law like the individual in the video did... Then you will understand why the police officers could not challenge what he was saying to them and why the Supervisor let him go on about his way..... Notice how they never even got his name & ID from him to see if he was actually a 'felon'? That's because they're not allowed to stop him for the sole reason that he was open carrying - and they realized it.

Cops should have NO authority ! They should be accountable for all their actions just like a person is.

That was awesome! Great vid Roxy! It sucks that the cop was just doing what he was trained to do. I hate how they all say shit that isn't true. The cop actually seemed like a good guy though. He was not a dick or anything, just doing what he was trained to do. He tried, but the kid knew his laws and rights.
