I went down this road with the same poster trying to get it through his head that food and necessities should be provided, but extras should be earned.
Fraud and abuse of the system need to addressed and corrected.

If you're in the UK, you may not know much about America's situation. There's one very simple solution to the states' running out of money for their social programs: get rid of all the illegals presently sucking those resources dry! They are costing us something like 160 billion dollars a year, they and their anchor brats after them. Over a third of the criminals in our prison system are in the country illegally and that's pricey too, not to speak of the costs to their victims. They're killing more Americans, daily, than we're losing in all our foreign military conflicts together. Get rid of that human filth and we'd have enough to feed every single American, and feed them well too, so we can all get through these hard economic times.

I went to school for social work in the US. Why do you think I find it so annoying when people getting benefits whine that they are special and the person sitting next to them in line isn't deserving? Usually it's the mental patients doing that, so it worries me when people that think they have their head on straight do the same thing.

We do have a lot of those 'mental cases' here, don't we? lol I remember being amazed at discovering how many people I knew casually in small towns in the Southwest were actually getting those monthly 'crazy checks' all because real life was too much for them. Wasn't a damned thing wrong with any of them, as far as I could see. That's what's happening to our Social Security money here, at least, it's a large part of it: somebody decides they'll have a panic attack if they have to leave their house or they're addicted to illegal drugs or alcohol so they visit the Mental Health department of Public Health and get on some prescription and then, get a mental disability income. Our entire national culture these days seems to favor the 'taking one's hands off the steering wheel' approach to life. Everybody wants to be a 'victim' instead of an achiever.
