TBar suggested it, so here it is! I'll be broadcasting live video of the moon and Saturn for about an hour or so tonight, come take a look:

Just in time. Everything just went behind the trees for me. For some reason the stream isn't working in Safari 5.17, I had to use Firefox.

Thanks.

Glad you could make it TBar! Looks like libration has tilted the moon away from Clavius tonight. Looks great though with all the shadows in it.

No telescope on earth has the angular resolution required to do that. That's dictated by Dawes' Limit, which is a function of aperture size. Furthermore, the atmosphere imposes an upper limit much stricter than Dawes' limit regardless of how big your telescope is, unless you have adaptive optics or are in space.

This bright white ball is Saturn in my widefield scope, if you look closely you can see the clouds passing in front of it. It's thin stuff for the moment, but I best slew back to the moon for now.

Well the clouds have completely obscured the moon, so before I sign off, here's the Ring Nebula.

I wanted to look at the moon close up and not just in one spot. I am tired anyway. Have a good night.

This link says by using all the on site Scopes in the Interferometer mode, they can resolve details to equivalence of a 202 Meter Telescope. With a 202 Meter Telescope, "...the VLTI can reconstruct images with an angular resolution of milliarcseconds, equivalent to distinguishing the two headlights of a car at the distance of the Moon..."

AstroNut's scope is about 0.2032 Meters, a long way from 202 Meters...

can you get a picture of the hexagonal pole of Saturn, if that isn't obscured? i'd love to see a recent picture of it, and compare it with the older ones.
