Yes the govt pays the expense just like it does in Medicaid now. They set the price, they/we/you pay via the govt which only has money it takes from us the taxpayers or prints.

If the set price isn't really enough to cover the real cost?...the hospital or whatever provider eats the difference or raises costs elsewhere to keep above water.

Ummm. Am I reading the opinion correctly in that they cannot force states to participate? Can't withhold Medicare payments, etc. if so, does this allow individuals residing in those states to "opt out" as well? Would they still be subject to the TAX?

So if my taxes pay for medicaid, and my insurance costs support hospitals. Does this mean healthcare/insurance will go up? I guess it's nice that we will have more people paying for it, but a mandatory tax sucks.

Also, I read that somethin like 25-30 million still won't be covered...but proverty in the US is like 40 million. So how will people considered to fall below the poverty like purchase HC? I know some people will be exempt. Won't they just have medicaid, which is what they had before?

I'm a vet, I love my VA, really do. I think all Americans should be able to go to the doctor, VA model is a good one. And could take care of US all.
I don't like the government in everything, but I really think government has to be in health care. Or we would soon not be able to afford it..Because that is the way things work. Life is a big one, that the price could go up very fast, as life is something we would pay for. What ever the price we would pay if we could, for that....don't you know??

You guys keep confusing health care and health insurance, they are NOT one in the same.

before Obamacare, I did not need health insurance to acquire health care.
Health care is the service you receive from your practitioners, health insurance is a means of paying for and regulating what care you receive.

I agree that costs are high, and that is directly because the insurance industry shifted from true insurance to managed health care and is now in bed with big pharma.

THIS is not the answer.

Give the people OPTIONS, let me purchase and build my own policies like we used to before the big hiring boom of the 80's.

Before then, most companies did not offer insurance as a perk. We had bought major medical (true catastrophic insurance) and could buy similar plans for dental and eye care.

We budgeted for expected costs like eyeglasses and routine visits. We knew we needed them and paid for them out of pocket. Want to know why this is a good thing? Because now I am earning the interest on those funds and not some insurance company who I am now forced to pay a monthly premium to pay for things I may or may not need.

For those who are having a hard time finding funds to pay for medical care, we need to go back to the private sector.

There USED to be organizations that assisted with this. The churches, local communities, even the pickle jars at the mini marts.

Let US setup charities and assistance programs and allow people to make donations to the charities they wish to help and give us the tax deductions for doing so as an incentive.

A gvt managed health service is NOT the answer. When you remove the competition fro the market, the market goes to shit and costs an arm, a leg or maybe even your life.


We have all that you speak above in the privite sector right now? That is not near enough, very small compared to the problem. Only a government would have the resourses to all that needs done? That's just the way it is..
What we need is a government that can work to solve our problems. Until we have that we won't do anything right. If we get half right we are lucky these days...
