Today a field mouse paid us a visit (again)
He/She had fallen into the lightwell of our house. I would say again because it is not the first time I free a mouse showing the same activity on this part. Was not that scared anymore like last time when I set the trap to free her. Was like she (I would call her she but it could have been a he) was observing me wondering what I would do next.

Might have been searching for shadow since it is pretty hot here but she should not do that often. If I catch her once more before fall, I cannot exclude that I would not keep her warm as pet over the winter.

Re: Today a field mouse paid us a visit (again)
smart wittle mousey.
Moving forward.
Memories left behind. A new life, a new journey. I've built anew.
For mankind... for my kind.
The vessel stares back at me. From every angle, the menacing smile latches on.
Talking walls speak and spell my life story.
My past life.
The vessel sleeps beside me... the comfort breath.
Morning skin of machines, of humanity's beginnings.
Am I God? I've been called worse... drift in and out.
This vessel brings me sleep.

Just be careful that it doesn't start banging on about its new jerusalem calendar xx

Rethink that, OP. I raised domesticated pet store mice for years and loved them dearly, but field mice carry the Hunter Virus. Google it. A woman died in the midwest from it in recent years. It's in their droppings and it's deadly.

Field Mice are crawling with disease and viruses.

Get rid of the mangy animal before it kills you, or makes you desperately ill.

One of the most important aspects of conspiracy theories is being able to discern when there isn't one.

Oh yeah, like you'd understand anyway.

Here a pic,

[link to tinypic.com]

I had to take it through a glass or the mouse would have jumped outside before I took the picture.

She is getting bolder each time, she was not frozen scared anymore, I nearly lost her in the kitchen and had to catch her with kitchen gloves.

Looks more like a vole [link to www.the-piedpiper.co.uk] than a fieldmouse! Either way, cute as. [link to gallery.nen.gov.uk]

We would wish they don't come back, it seems to be genetic memories, these are said not to live for more than a year and I catch them out for at least 5-6 years. Maybe they found a way to rescue themselves from an owl?
 Quoting: Sandrose

Mice are a bit like a lottery. Basically it's the time of year, when the fields are harvested and all the crops cut down, the mice move from the field into nearby houses.

If you catch one and take it out to the nearest field, chances are it'll end up in someone else's house. xx

Humane mouse trap:

Put some peanut butter on the edge of a tall (1-2 foot high) bucket, set it at the edge of a table.
