Thanks for proof there are 6 figure welfare recipients?
That is a myth. Like big foot.
People say he exists, but nobody can prove it.

Ciear case of felony fraud.
The myth is that common poor people are living on a 6 figure income. Any time there is govt money involved people are going to steal it.
Contractors, politicians and bankers all cheat the system
I stand by my claim that you can not get 6 figure welfare. Of course you can STEAL It. Those aren't welfare recipients those are felons. Completely different dummy and why do you hate poor people? Did your mommy tell you were better than anyone else?
Newsflash: your shit stinks like everyone else's.
 Quoting: Whitemike761

well I'm glad you finally agree that this does occur. see I think we are on the same page, my point is merely that the system needs more checks and balances so that individuals like this cant game the system and defraud all of us. there are many more instances of these things occurring, this is just the one you hear about because they got caught. we cant afford to allows this unsustainable system to continue without some sort of discussion and a great place to start would be a discussion as to whether people should be able to use their food stamps and welfare benefits to buy cigarettes and alcohol. I am of the opinion that they should not be able to buy anything but food, gas, and necessary household items. I agree with Jackie and I gave her $100 yesterday not cause I feel sorry for her, but to reward her for her commendable actions!
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 18900267

What do we agree on? That the system can be frauded? Sure it can. 6 figure bonuses to a bailout banker is a big fraud.
If you read the thread, you will see that she did not set up the account and states she doesn't know who did. You have been frauded out of $100, but keep on keeping on with your desire to blame the poor, while taxpayer subsidize the oil industry to the tune of BILLIONS of dollars and billions to bankers who played fast and lose with peoples money only to cry like little babies whrn they got thier balls in a bind

Actually, the person who setup the donation fund has made contact with Jackie through a reporter who wrote the story in her local New Hampshire newspaper. The follow up story is going to contain reference to this and a link to the donation fund...

Already up to $450!

OP, that was NOT the FOOD EBT, it was CASH EBT which can be used as I understand for anything. I don't have cash EBT just food EBT and the computers would not ring up beer and cigarettes on it. It was rightful to discipline the lady but not to fire her over it. Perhaps there was more reason, who knows. I suspect the whole story was not told here. People do have a right to pay by whatever means available to them. I think even the cash benefits on the cards should be limited and I also think that POP and other empty caloried foods should not be allowed on the EBT food card myself, for in doing so, peoples health might improve. Deli food for example also does not ring on ebt food, because its considered "restaurant" food, eatable on premises.

This is confusing. The article states that he used an EBT card to buy cigarettes. That is illegal. However if he used his cash benefits, there's much anyone can do about it. Even though it's illegal, it it's done all the time.

Smart ass cashier= Rosa Parks. Too fucking funny.
In many states where child support is payed through the court, it is then loaded onto a EBT card. In this case noone knows whos money was being spent.
Now, I know your gonna come back and say, “she should'nt spend her child support on cigs.
O.k. just maybe this person spent some of thier money on diapers while waiting on the child support?
Do you know? Of course you don't
You are a pretentious presumptive asshole, rideing a high horse who doesn't have all the facts. Who's the dumbass here.

so it's ok to buy beer and cigarettes with child support? no it is not, that is for your child and if he is drinking and smoking then you need to be locked up. should people spend their disability on it? I don't think so either, it's a benefit that is provided by the state to provide basic needs for those with disability. cigarettes are not a basic need.

Nah thats how the system creates entitled people who are unmotivated to do anything like work because they can survive livin on their moms basement and still get their smoke on. Not cool. If they couldn't smoke they'd have that motivation back over night and would try to work if they need to satisfy that I'll tobacco craving. Basically they majority of the people who posted here are the reason why our country is so fucked, you think you deserve everything and haven't done shit.

I have a college education and am more than capable of pulling in a 6 figure income, and I did for years. I deserve what I WORKED for. I don't ask for handouts. I also don't believe some old bitch with an opinion on what is or isn't ok to purchase should have any authority of how the benefits are spent. It's NOT HER CALL. She didn't politely decline, she ran her mouth and brought other customers into it. She had no right.

So..how much do you make a year?

Where do YOU live?

Do you drive a moped?

You know nothing about any of the people posting in this thread. Just zip it, idiot.

Scottsdale and I make an above average salary. I've been working hard for the same company for over fiver years, my precious job was the same thing. I do t have a college degree, but my peers all do. I just know what it takes to get ahead and I set my goals to achieve more. I could just go with the flow like everyone else, but I want to be able to make more for myself and my family. I know guys who work 4 jobs year round so they can pay for their kids school, work is there, it's just how willing you are to do it. With the current system they require a dependent state so this idea is primates from ever angle. This should not be something that we promote. Welfare shouldn't put you in a higher income than someone who works their but off all year. All the time I hear of these woman pulling in 6 figure incomes on welfare and other benefits. It's insane and needs to stop and people like myself are not going to back down on this whatever takes.

This isn't about the system. Clearly she only had a problem with it when a 20 yr old wanted to buy some Marlboros. She wasn't out pounding the pavement trying to get the system reformed, she wasn't writing officials, she wasn't doing anything. She had a pissy day and decided to get fresh with a customer in front of other customers knowing full well she was violating policy and denying someone a purchase that was completely legal.

This is about an employee thinking she's above the law, above company policy and allowing her personal feelings on something to interfere with her job. She has no legal right to deny that customer something he is legally allowed to purchase. It's that simple.

If she has a beef with how funds are being spent she can handle that outside of her job where she wont get fired. Her making a stand against his purchase didn't serve her well. She got fired, she'll probably end up milking the system. She's old, she's got no marketable skills.

She fucked herself, for nothing.

Let me add that I take issue with the welfare system. I've been very vocal on this forum about that, but again, that isn't what this is about.

When I worked there was much I didn't approve of but it was my job to carry out my duties in a certain manner and I knew that I either did it or I was out on my ass.

Exactly, my old job I had to give settlements to illegal aliens who had to provide little to no ID and was not the same rules for our own US citizens..DID I like it HELL NO, but it was a job and that was the rules. I could have fought it and lost and ended up jobless but that wont pay the bills.

No. But I play one on T.V.
No, I do not but my brother who is siting right next to me does.
He through out the letter that came with but I read it and was shocked at what kind of money is loaded on it. Much more than just welfare and foodstsmps.
I had even read somewhere that civil judgements, paid through a court clerk could be placed on one. Can't prove it with a link so, we will call that speculation.
Speculation, your good at that aren't you?
Do you have one?

The fact is you people do not know who's money that is and you compare a smartass cashier to Rosa Parks and then call me the dumbass.
