this is certainly a tragic incident. i just hate to see people look at this through the lens or "black" vs "white".
i see things a little differently. the human experience and associated issues seems to me to be a bit more complicated than one group is all good and another group is all bad.

people condemn the black community for violence but look at what is used by governments to impose and maintain the order they deem necessary. violence. sure there are guns in the hood but our government has nukes (among other weapons of mass destruction).

people talk about the folly of the "stop snitching" mentality of "the hood" but government is not transparent. classified information and state secrets for "national security reasons" functions to "stop snitching". as much as organized crime is known to neutralize "rats" and "snitches" the government will do the same.

a seven year old getting shot is tragic. easy for some here it seems to point the finger and condemn the entire black community but what of "collateral damage" of war?

there's much talk of drug problems among the impoverished but drugs are of utility and evidenced by the amount of pharmacies in the us there's plenty of people using drugs. the poor have far more difficulty obtaining "legal" medical care and pharmaceutical treatments than the wealthy consequently there is a large black market trade for substances that can treat physical and mental issues. granted there are likely better options known to modern medicine for most conditions but the poor tend to not have access to that route so they cope the best way they know how and can access.

as i see it there are good bad and in between individuals and groups working in government consequently we can observe good bad and in between in government. there are good bad and in between individuals and groups in "the hood" consequently we can observe good bad and in between in the hood.

those with the most power and influence have established precedent in which one can draw parallels to the behavior and incidents we see playing out in America's "hoods". i think we could all do some introspection with balance in mind to see how our own ideas actions and values effect the problems in the world. we all need to elevate our standards individually and collectively if there's to be any hope of a better world.
