Mt.Mama User ID: 18884760 United States 06/30/2012 05:55 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I've been talking to my mom, who lives in WV and she says there is no gas at the gas stations and grocery stores are closed due to no power. Quoting: Starry eyes Insane. Can anyone else from the area report (that is, if you reserved your power on your laptop) I also cannot keep a cell phone signal long enough with her.. This is true. My son went with his dad up there when the storms hit. Alot of trees down, no power and from what my EX tells me, it's really bad. That's the Winfield area. He also said the cells aren't working well as I only heard from them once today. They are heading back to NC tomarrow. He called Witheville, Va and they have power. We got hit here with the tail end of the storm with excessive winds and our power was out all night but came on at 5:30am. It was a very hot and miserable night! Prayers to all! |

Starry eyes (OP) User ID: 13160787 United States 06/30/2012 05:57 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Now my mother heard from a neighbor that the water plant is being shut down??? Quoting: Starry eyes I'm in a panic. She has 3 days worth of food... They probably dont have good battery/gen back-up for the pumps, your mom should start boiling some drinking water like today. Water is first thing she should take care of! Yes, I told her to do that. I also told her she needs to store her cold foot in ice water mixed with salt and keep in the fridge. Thankfully, she has a gas stove. I heard there have been people freaking out at the local CVS and gas stations. Wow,hope your mom will be ok op,if she has some blankets see if she will wrap them around her fridge for insulation. hope folks dont riot, that only makes shit get bad really, really quick... like cops will start shooting folks. *food* ***Earth was once considered to be flat. Starry eyes (OP) User ID: 13160787 United States 06/30/2012 05:59 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I would relax OP....if your mom is like most West Virginians I know, she will be ok. Even though a lot of jokes are made about them, they are very resilient and resourceful in most cases. Hell, most know how to "live off the land" in worst case scenarios (some do it just by choice alone)! So I wouldn't worry much!! Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1230093 Thank you for the comfort. She was born there, but moved away as a baby and just moved back a couple years ago. She has lived in the city most of her life. Either way, me and my siblings will be checking on her quite frequently. She is in her 40's, so she could fend for herself, but I'm keeping close watch. ***Earth was once considered to be flat. DoubleHelix User ID: 15806923 United States 06/30/2012 06:01 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Sorry for going of subject for a second here but wow...this is the first time i heard of this... (from the link above) "This AM I spent the morning at ARE [Edgar Cayce’s Association for Research & Development] with the UFO Club listening to speakers who have personally experienced ET contact since early childhood – very confirming to each other’s stories. One man at the meeting read an “Announcement to the Nation” Kennedy was to give the day after he was assassinated – which Governor Connolly who was riding in the car with Kennedy reading his speech note cards, now blood stained, put under lock and key until after his death. After experts authenticated the handwriting and blood stains, the speech has now been made public and it was announcing the presence of ETs here to help us!!!" Of course this could be BS unless someone can confirm this story "I posit that the human being has the capability to utilize the ''real eyes'' to ''realize'' and see through the ''real lies'' ...The ''real eyes'' can only become operational when the heart and higher mind are in synchronized, which requires dual brain hemisphere synchronization."~Danial My [email protected] 1111x1111=1234321<[NUMERICAL PYRAMID;] “Injustice never rules forever.” - Seneca |

The gas stations probably have gas, but gas stations rely on electricity to power their pumps. |

But we don't have chain stores, chain stores probably just close because they aren't allowed to Jerry rig stuff to keep going. |

We're slowly receiving power back through the state, and they've definitely made progress. Just make sure your mom stays cool and hydrated because it is WAY hot outside, and we're under a heat advisory. The longest I've heard on people waiting for power is 5-7 days (including today), but most of the state that doesn't have power yet only has a wait of 2-5, so your Mom should be alright. I hope everything turns out okay. =] |

Try again in a few moments. and many other sites got effected from this storm Hurricane-like storms knocked an Amazon data center in Ashburn, Virginia, offline last night, and a chunk of the Internet felt it. The six-hour incident temporarily cut off a number of popular internet services, including Netflix, Pinterest, Heroku, and Instagram. The outage was the second for this particular Amazon data center in the past month. It’s bad news for a cloud computing platform that’s sold as a more reliable alternative to traditional data centers. In theory, big outages like this aren’t supposed to happen. Amazon is supposed to keep the data centers up and running — something it’s has become very good at — and customers like Netflix, freed from that drudgery, are supposed to be free to cook up compelling new web application like video streaming. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 3158820 Ireland 06/30/2012 06:12 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Three governors declared a state of emergency after powerful storms swept through the eastern United States Friday night, resulting in at least 12 deaths and leaving more than three million without power. Under the statewide emergency declaration, Virginia, West Virginia and Ohio, can utilize all government resources immediately to help those in need. The District of Columbia also declared a state of emergency. Gov. John Kasich cited widespread power losses in Ohio, utility damages and excessive heat that could create crisis conditions for some Ohioans. State emergency officials say 800,000 to 1 million people still had power outages Saturday morning. |

Yes I Did !!!! User ID: 18884661 United States 06/30/2012 06:16 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Governor John Kasich Saturday declared a State of Emergency for the entire State of Ohio after severe storms and high winds knocked out power for around one-million power company customers across two-thirds of the state. That storm tore the hell out of Ohio. I have a daughter who lives in Lexington, KY and she said that winds hit her home - out of nowhere - shook her house and sounded like a tornado.... but NO rain. She said she picked up the baby and ran to the bathroom. And she doesn't scare easy !!! Her husband was stranded in Ohio at the time. This is absolutely CRAZY stuff !!!!
