wow, I really like the solar light and shower idea!

Well according to my math, locally made food products should be cheaper than imports due to the distance imported food has to travel.
so this MIGHT be a good thing as it'll make people buy more local Australian made products.
However, logic never works with the Politics so we'll see.

Other options are to invest in a couple of solar showers that are only a couple of bucks each. One per person and put them outside in the early morning so they'll be ready by afternoon early evening.

Buy plenty of throw rugs extra jumpers thick socks and coats as they can be reused yearly and use heating sparingly.

Cooking more with bbqs rather than using the stove.
Lower the thermostat on your fridge (as it's probably still at Summer levels) to save on electricity.

Buy a big bunch (as many as you can afford, I've bought 50) of those garden solar lights and charge them during the day and bring them in at night. Heaps of light for FREE.

Do more walking and catch a bus for shorter trips and leave the car at home. Start car pooling to save money. Pretend like you don't own a car for one week a month and use alternatives to get around.

Hurry and buy all the stuff you need NOW before the tax really kicks in.
I've just bought a whole pile of really nice household goods dirt cheap off Gumtree while the delivery charges are still the same.

Heaps of things to do to ride out the tax until Liberal get in and hopefully take a sledge hammer to it.
