"You all know that if you leave doors open in wintertime, heat will escape and the whole house will get cold; and if you leave doors and windows closed in summertime, you will suffocate... But very few are aware that there are doors and windows within themselves, on the astral plane, and they must also know when to open and close them. How do we keep warmth, joy, and light? How do we protect spiritual riches or acquire new ones? By keeping the doors closed to the inferior world - through which dark spirits could slip in - and by opening the doors that communicate with the world above.

The disciple must go through the 50 doors explained in the Cabbalah: the doors of Binah, or doors of intelligence. But the Twenty-four Elders watching over them see to it that only those who have learnt when to open and close the doors of the astral plane can go through these doors."
