Article is unfortunately totally biased and hence worthless.

Sorry, but I agree with Germany. It is an extremely biased article. As a mom of two young kids, I usually feel extreme outrage when I read articles about parents' rights being trampled on, but this one... it tries too hard. Any mother planning a homebirth needs to have a plan in place in case hospital care is needed. These parents did not. She was given oxytocin without being told what it was... every woman gets a shot of this AFTER the baby is born to help the uterus contract and expel the placenta so the woman does not bleed to death. If she had a hospital plan, she would have known this. She didn't get to see the baby right away: again, it might totally suck, but this is how it works in a hospital in an emergency delivery, and if she had prepared for the possibility of a hospital delivery, it would have been prepared for. I feel a little bad for her about this, because it's awful not being able to see your child right away (it was 3 hours between my first child's birth and me getting to see her), but come on... the baby was born in a parking lot. Of course they are going to whisk her away to check everything. The staff knew nothing about the mother or child. If God forbid something bad happened to the baby during delivery and they HADN'T taken her away to do a check, but instead let Mom cuddle, then these parents would be suing for malpractice! As for the vaccinations and the social worker, I feel I can't even form an opinion because of how melodramatic the first part of the article is, trying to make standard, common sense protocol sound outrageous. I denied Hep B for my baby, and I was momentarily questioned about it, then strongly questioned about it at the baby's first pediatrician appointment, so if the woman was really pressured to that extent over nothing but a vaccine, she has my sympathy. It is hard to stand your ground against those who "seem" to have authority over you. But the article is so slanted, that I can't believe there wasn't a greater reason than just a vaccine that a social worker was called in.
