However, I am afraid you are too late. The Web is a controlled market now. Spider Bots are controlled and no matter how great your metatags html design may be, you will never get top billing on search results. Without some serious advertising investment you will never get your head above water.

I have a couple of niche websites and am in the top 10 on G* for 80%+ of the US markets. The large metro areas take time because of entrenched local competition but it's just time and you still have the rest of the country. Not earning your goal of $3k/mo but am earning every day and it does grow!
I ran a few real estate portals 2003 - 2006 and earned your target but that bubble has popped.
what's current? what's trending? what will be trending in 6 months, 1 yr, 3 yrs?
as someone else said, learn wordpress if you don't already know html/css/php/mysql

I thank you for the gentlemanly response even if you do not believe me. I have no need to prove it to you. I will however, tell you. 30G monthly was avg from 1996 till late 2003. My hosting and B/W bill ran around 3g a month as well. I've had over 90,000+ members on one site alone. I've hosted (back then) a few of the largest adults sites on the web doing well over 3TB monthly B/W.
The larger sites I hosted monthly bill I charged from 200 to 500/month and they'd pay several months up usually. I'd have to adjust their rates according to the plan I had them on and their overages in B/W.
I even hosted my plastic surgeon's website in exchange for implants LOL. He let me record the surgery too. :blech:

PONDS cold Cream had just spent 90grand on keyword 'cosmetics' and CNN was doing a skit about it. Before CNN was done. I moved Ponds off the front page of all the major search engines. I got my server free by giving my hosting company top placement everywhere on keywords hosting, web server, domain registration, and a few others I forget.
It was a simple bug in the indexing I found. They've long since fixed it but, you would search the term in question, view the source of the search engines results, save that as your own HTML. Upload that to your own server and submit it back. It would index its own top results putting me at the top. Then I would quickly change the HTML to what ever.
Believe it or not.. It is the truth..
