Just wondering--anyone else prepare for 2000, power outage with extra food...

I've been doom susceptible since I was a kid--took too much stuff to college and worried about the next ice age and having enough food.

I'm wondering if it is genetic, or from childhood trauma, or what? But I believe some people are more likely to look for doom. (and they might be lurking here)

I'm glad it hasn't happened to me, (major doom) but if I could have a dollar for every time I worried--I'd be a billionaire. And worried about losing it.

I do think it is prudent to be prepared, but that it can also ruin your life to be too worried.

Anyone have a "happy" balance?

From the time I was at least 5 years old I used to pretend I was the weatherman looking at the clouds and forecasting a tornado any time I saw them swirling. I think it's something in the genes with usual types being this way. Either you think all is hopeless so you are compelled to prepare, or you want the sense of adventure that this sudden change would bring and would break up the daily grind. Both types are susceptible I figure
